Apart from the degeneration effect that current does not work with IIR/IIQ gems you can't really be effective with only 2 specters. You ll need to use bones of ullr boots which means you loose IIR/IIQ from boots.

If you go with midnight bargain you can't go CI which means you ll have to worry about chaos resistance to survive thus making it a lot harder to itemize your gear for high IIR/IIQ or use a shavrones which is very expensive.

If you go with Queens degree 2 hand sword you loose your shield which means a lot less resistance and ES which again means a lot harder to itemize for IIR/IIQ.

Also since you are relying on only 3-4 specters most likely you ll have to use sidhebreath amulet to make them effective which again you loose the IIR/IIQ from amulet. You also loose a lot of DEX/STR/INT which will make it harder to equip some items/gems.

Not to mention that when (not if) your specters die you loose your effectiveness, so you have to go back, find the specters you build around and raise them again.
You can't do that when you are in a map with 5 more people.

Also if you are building around fireballs specters you most likely be kicked from group because of the massive FPS lag they create.

I disagree that you cannot be effective with only 2 spectres, when my CI summoner used spectres in 5L I still only used 2 spectres. Currently running spectre in 4L and zombie in 5L (4 zombies using Mon'tregul's Grasp weapon swap, 4 more without it), spectres still account for a HUGE part of my damage. I do like using a build that isn't completely neutralized when losing spectres, but I still prefer to start a playing session with good spectres (flame sentinels if solo, dont care about lag then, or burning miscreations or titty bitches if I feel like partying).

I chose to not run MF gems on my 5L zombie, relying on arc to cull on bosses at least, but thats a personal choice, picking higher kill speed over slightly higher loot from mobs I cant cull in time. If i ever get a 6L chest I'll probably run quantity on zombies though.

I used to do bones of ullr in the old days, with a lower level life based summoner, currently I run Rainbowstride instead, might switch out for MF boots if I can be arsed to buy a good pair (or get lucky on drop...yeah right). As for Queens Decree and Midnight Bargain, I find both to be quite a poor choice, the only way I'd consider Midnight Bargain would be in a low life Shavronne's build (if I had one of those), too much loss in life and other stats IMO.

You really don't need to overly stack IIR.

Look at it this way,

Lets say you want to win the lottery.

I buy 10 lottery tickets(400iir). 10 lottery tickets still doesn't make your odds that much higher to win the lottery.

I buy 1 lottery ticket(no IIR). In the grand scheme of things 1 lottery ticket can still let you get the winning ticket.

I believe the thing that lets one gain a lot "good items" is the sheer quantity of items that you get. How do you get more items? Kill things faster. How do you kill things faster? Gear that makes you stronger.

To sum it up, to item find effectively

fast as possible clear time(do not sacrifice clear time for more IIR)
IIQ

If you have extremely fast clear time even with stacking IIR, than awesome.

Not so sure on this at all, honestly. IIQ, yes, but faster clearing over IIR? I have a few fast clear builds and have played them just as long (if not longer) than my MF summoner and the drops have just been "meh" 99% of the time. I will say that you are not guaranteed godly drops with a MF build, but you will get far better than just stacking for clear speed.

Idk I had much more success running through maps as fast as I can. I try to knock off as many maps in X amount of time. Maybe this is just my Diablo 2 mentality speaking.

Unfortunately idk if my hp based summoner can actually utilize too many IIR uniques. Hp doesn't scale as well as es.

Question: do you guys even use your IIR gear in high level maps(maybe like 74+)? Those mobs hit like a truck.

That's the beauty of a zombie-focused IIR/IIQ build. You can pretty much run any map with minimal effort and obtain high drop rates in the process. Going CI, the only map mods I avoid are Blood Magic. The chain and burning ground mods can be a bit harsh sometimes, but they are not a deal breaker in the least. I have enough ES (near 5K now) that I can take a few hits in high level maps and run to a safe place before I die. After that it is rebuild my army (if needed) and charge ahead knowing what mobs I need to focus on when I get back there.

I make my BM's pretty tanky they actually survive better than my zombies.

I had some trouble with Maze(74map).

The boss was a beefed up version of vaal.
How do u guys deal with getting hit by the rocks or lasers =/. I have 30k armor with my granite flask and vaal could pretty much 2-shot me with his laser cannon. (wasn't close enough to get hit by the sledge hammer move)

Got 5.6k ES, resistances maxed at 77. MF on gear 85 IIQ and 121 IIR, when killing with Arc i got 124 IIQ 175 IIR. My question is should i aim for a 700+ ES Chest to reach almost 7k ES or try to change my boots and gloves to get more MF?

5-curse him, use shockwave totems and have someone spamming projectiles from a safe distance
