[1.2.0] Dual Claws Are Cool

Thanks for pointing out bad US, I have conunted I will lost 6 points to gain it, Now I will invest in more def nodes. I will also take VP, I have enough money to play with 2 yellow claws. Im not sure if I should go crit/more dmg, I will decide in game.

Sorry, I cant post my tree now, flash on current computer works extremely slow.

Hello everyone.

First, thanks a lot Kirielis for sharing this build, I'm having a blast with it.

Then, before asking anything, I will sum up my travel through Wraeclast up till now.

I'm currently level 71, and have almost completed the build you linked. I waited quite a lot before taking Ondar's Guile, but should I do this build again, I would go for it asap now. It really change your life once you have it.

As someone mentioned in a earlier post, caping your resists in merciless is also a life changer. Can't agree more. I knew it from playing 2 other characters to merciless, but thought that this build impressive life leech would allow me to skip resistances a bit, and went with IIR items...well, that worked...for a little time...and then I got badly wrecked during the last half of act 2 merciless. I switched some IIR gear for some resists gear, and all went well after that all the way up to Dominus.

Dominus, on the other hand...sent me flying to the moon. Either I find 2 good rare claws and take Vaal Pact, or I find a bloodseeker, but I won't be trying again before that. My slow leeching can't keep up with his damage while he channel his lighning specters, and even less when his exploding zombies add onto that (I go from 2750 life to 0 in less than 2-3 seconds, I think). Tried to avoid his lightning, but wasn't successfull either. Still take quite some damage from the exploding zombies, and Dom's ES will often regenerate during my run, preventing me from doing much damage to his life. Could probably grind his life slowly that way, and porting back to town to refresh flasks, again and again, but frankly, don't like to do it this way.

If anyone have any advice on the fight, I'm all ears. I won't put it past me to miss some important detail of the fight that get me killed in a flash.

Now, going for some questions/a bit of discussion about some keystones and nodes.

Acrobatics/Phase Acrobatics
edit : checked the Acrobatics guide mentioned by Kirielis in the first post. My understanding of the mechanics involved was completly wrong. But the keystones still seem good.

Leather and steel
Does anyone have thoughts and comments on this one ? The "Ignore all movement penalties from armor" seems nice, but if I take Acrobatics the other bonus (8+24% increased evasion and armor rating) won't do much for me. So, is the "Ignore all movement penalties from armor" worth spending 2 points if I have Acrobatics, and is it worth it even if I don't take Acrobatics ?

Crystal skin
Did anyone test this node circle (near the life circle north of Ondar's Guile)?
Going for the full circle (taking just the first node don't seem usefull/worth it), that would amount, if I'm not mistaken, to :
55% chance to avoid being chilled
55% chance to avoid being frozen
55% chance to avoid being shocked
55% chance to avoid being ignited
Some part of me find it tempting, but some big big other part of me find that 7 passives for that is way too much. Any imput on these nodes would be welcomed.

Other nodes
After taking Vaal Pact (since I'm currently too poor to buy a Bloodseeker, and too unlucky to chance or drop one) and Acrobatics, I would go for theses node in this order :
1/ Bravado (just left across Vaal Pact)
2/ Gallantry (just right from Diamond Flesh)
3/ Fencing (north from the Thick skin life nodes)
4/ The 3 lifes nodes near Mind Drinker

I probably won't reach that far (i will be really happy if I manage to reach level 90 already, if even that), but I'm still interested to know what would be the best nodes to go for, once the "core" of the build is complete.

Well, that's all for the moment.
Thanks to anyone that will take the time to read all this, and thanks again to anyone that will take a bit of time to answer and comment.

Have a nice day, and a nice game !

PS : I'm looking for tips on where to farm white hellon's paw. Got one every five piety runs or so, and none in the couple of maps I did with friends.

Hey guys, I found a pretty decent claw a while ago and I was thinking about claw build, then BAM, found this tread
Anyway - I play HC only, is this build viable on HC? Im mostly scared of getting 1shotted by mobs like Brutus, Kole or Blacksmith.
What is the block chance around lvl 60-70? Comparable with a shield user?
Thinking about using multistrike/reave to keep distance from mobs and dual strike for bosses...

Nothing comparable, as long as you talk only about block chance.
With this build, you would have 35% chance to block in the level 60-70 range :

15% from dual wielding + 10% from Dervish node + 4% from Weapon Artistry node + 3x 2% from Dual Wield Block nodes = 35% total.

A shield user could have almost as much just with any shield, not counting nodes.

As I haven't tested it in HC, what I say will hold no value, but as long as you don't lag behind in the equipment area you shouldn't have any problems staying alive.
Get Ondar's Guile as soon as possible, with a Grace aura it will make your travels a lot more safe, especially in act 2 and 3 with all the monster's projectiles (snakes, skeleton archers, tentacles tits monters, etc...)
Go with Armor/Evasion hybrid armor, and keep 1 or 2 granit flasks with you at all time, and heavy hiters like brutus and kole (non map ones) will be jokes.
For any infos about maping, sorry, just started running maps so can't say anything about it.

Hopping someone more knowledgeable about the subject can help you soon.

Have fun.

Thanks for your reply, but after thinking a bit about it I think Id rather try out reave/claw on my duellist (which is build with 75% block in mind and way more HP/armor) than starting another char and dying in some dumb way (and I keep doing that). 2k char with 'only' 25% block just doesnt feel safe enough for nemesis, for me.

Thanks for the answer tho, one little question - whats your HP atm?
Level 64, Nemesis. 2.8k HP, 45% chance to block, 636 ar 1310 ev, running only Purity of X. Using cyclone in a 4L (blind, melee physical, added fire) doing 66/67 maps no problem. There's a further 6% dw block not yet taken on the tree, and if you add Rain with its 15% you reach 66% block. It's not quite 75%, but it's pretty close! This is assuming you don't want to run Anvil with it. I wouldn't. There are nicer amulets.

Passive tree at level 66, killed all bandits in every difficulty. I hope this puts all the "viable in HC" questions to rest.

Hi,

I have to say I'm in love with this this build.

I'm just curious how i should skill gem the bringer of rain since it already has 3 support gems in it.

Also do you not have a problem with running out of mana without using bloodmagic?

I'm also curious to why you don't use a life stealing support gem.

Thanks,
Fiend

From Kirielis 1st post :

With Bringer of Rain:
Dual Strike - Melee Splash - Multistrike - Added Fire
Reave - Multistrike - Added Fire - Concentrated Effect or Increased AoE
Cyclone - Blind - Added Fire - Increased AoE

An alternative to any of the 4th listed gems is Blood Magic. Don't worry too much about HP cost, it will all be leeched back immediately.

With 3 claw nodes giving 4% Life Leech each, and the LL given by Blood Rage (4-6% depending on gem level), and the natural LL bonus on claws (3% or 6% depending on high level claws), and eventually the LL on other pieces of gear, you should be able to forgo the Life Leech gem.

Have fun.
Oops! Blind's already in the Rain. Thanks for pointing that out, I'll edit the Cyclone part.

Regarding life leech: I'm looking at 24% LL before blood rage. Previously I had been using a higher leech claw (6% base, 3% explicit) and a ring with 2%, so 32% before blood rage. No LL gem. Why would I need it?

On managing mana: get a couple pieces of gear with +mana, and enough mana leech to overcap it, and you're golden.
