(Aug 19 NZT) Hardcore No-Party Ladder Race

anyone mind sharing some tips on how to do a race? i haven't played in months so i'm pretty rusty.

like what areas do people farm for certain levels?

i know ledge is a very good place to level but not sure what level you're suppose to stop and what is the next best place to farm etc etc

Well, to do really well in the race you need to "farm" very little, because you don't want to be too overleveled for the area, or you will get EXP slower.

I personally try to play a bit conservatively though, which means I do repeat the ledge about 1-3 times before the next zone because the Rocky Climb is a rather dangerous zone. I also repeat the area right after Brutus a few times usually (The Prisoner's Gate).

As for general tips:

-Try to only kill enemies if there are at least 3 in a group. AOE attacks/spells are preferable.

-Scan loot extremely fast, and only pick up items you are sure you need.

-Use your orbs early and often. Having a rare weapon around lvl 10 from an alchemy orb can help you get to lvl 15 faster.

-Skip most of the quests and side areas, like fetid pool, allflame, etc. They involve very dangerous zones, and the reward for fetid pool is only 2 respec points. The only ones I do are the required ones (glyphs, brutus, merviel) although sometimes I do the "crab boss" in the flooded depths for the skill point.

-NEVER try to kill Hailrake, Chatters, or the False God. Avoid them at all costs.

A few specifics:

- Never kill anything you do not need to before Mud Flats. Ever. (get the skillgem from the first monster and kill Brutus. Skip the rest.)

- Farm Mud Flats untill you hit at least level 2 and preferably 3! For some classes it is an advantage to finish the Mud Flats quest before farming.

- You preferably hit at least level 5 before The Ledge. It might be advantageous to kill the dweller of the deep for the extra skillpoint and the experience.

- The Ledge should bring you to about level 8.

- Be carefull in the prison and ignore the necromancers or anything they have raised!

- Get an ice resist ring before Merveil or face the consequences!

- Reach level 14 before you enter the forest and 15 for the rest of the stuff. You do not need to farm much in a solo-race before having opened the roots.

- Wait with the bandits untill you can handle them. That is often after you have found Oak! (Pun intended! :) )

- Terraces at higher difficulties are very good farming-value. So is Fellshrine Ruins and Dread Thickets. You can also venture into the ancient pyramid for farming.

- Axebane has some very good advice overall.
I appear to be living in "Romance Standard Time". That has to be good! :)

Honestly the areas are the same from the last time you played. The major area changes are the spots with particularly nasty mob abilities that they didn't have before. Areas like Cave of Wrath and Waterfall level 1 are particularly bad off the top of my head, but you wouldn't have stopped to grind either of those. Pretty much all the open zones I'd clear everything you ran into on ranger and try to skip as much of the rest as possible to get to cruel ledge or terraces to grind. I wouldn't stop anywhere in normal to clear more than once if you want to win.
In what gateway do i have to play to participate and in how many hours does the race start, cause i`m having trouble converting it to my time /Bulgaria/.

25 minutes.. you should be able to soon (or maybe can already) make a character in the league specific for this race.

It starts in 25 minutes. You can play through any of the gateways, you just have to create a new character in the race league.

Race starts in 25 minutes, and to play in it: create a character and select the league "3 hour HC race"
@4:37pm EDT
I'm not seeing the race league, anyone else?

Are we able to make our characters yet? Cause the league is not showing up for me.

edit: nvm
