(Aug 19 NZT) Hardcore No-Party Ladder Race

I wish I didn't get dc'ed, that made me lose about 2 minutes and I was under 5% exp away from lvl 28!

Died at lvl 21 trying to escape through a town portal from like 15+ mobs. I got the Forest Camp loading screen, but then shortly after I got an unable to map error. Apparently I was dead when I logged back in :(

So many people died to de-synchs this run. I died to the stupid exploding spawn thanks to that an hour in. I tried again and was plagued by not only the worst drops I have ever had, but at least a third of the rare monsters had elemental resist. Even starting an hour late I managed to get third witch because the class is such a suicidal solo. If I weren't going to play GW2, I'd probably just /whois ImDissappoint every minute just to copy his strategy. Grats, you earned all those demis.

Man what an awful awful race for me.

Didn't die, got to <10% hp like 20 different times though. My drops were awful, which I was prepared to deal with. What I wasn't prepared to deal with was every single rare spawning being an absolute nightmare for my build.

I had 40% rarity, still all of the few rares I did get weren't worthy of even a garbage bin. Drops started picking up at hour 2, but that was way too late. Lost over half an hour to being stuck in act 1 cause I couldn't face merveil without getting enough currency to buy a sapphire ring because it wasn't going to drop. Couldn't make one out of an iron ring either, no blue gems to spare.

But the results are almost identical to what I expected. I figured IMDisappoint would get a little higher, but it wasn't necessary since there was absolutely no competition on witch.

Super fun! Managed to destroy my previous performance of #134 and make the top 24!

Suggestions:

* Countdown timer onscreen, AND/OR

* Time announcements every hour then at 30min left, 15, 10, 5, etc

Very uneventful run for me; no desyncs, no near death experiences, no interesting drops; just an slow grind to 20-somethingth place.

I did have to save out once early in terraces as i couldnt stop shooting at enemies even though my cursor was clearly in empty space and i got surrounded, but that cost me 30-40 seconds tops and had no real effect on the race. Merveil was her usual annoying 5+ minutes of coldsnap spam and tp abuse but went down without concern. No other netcode/bug issues or save n exits required.

Dropwise i got zero alchs or chaos, 2 chances that both produced useless blues, 2-3 usable rares with life but no other solid mods, and never had enough green slots for all my gems (bows, evasion gloves/boots etc all had red/blue slots, even after multiple chromings). Also never had a strong weapon despite 10+ trans orbs on bows; i broke 100 dps on burning arrow 10 minutes before the league ended (with 65 or so for lit).

So what can i say, the rng chose not to giveth and that was that. Bit frustrating, and the first time ive finished below 2nd place ranger in months, but it certainly could have gone worse from what others posted about desync/lagout deaths and the like.

Fun event as usual, and i certainly hope to see more solo-only events in the future.
