[UPDATED 0.11.2] Blind Storm Ranger (Melee Evasion Tank)
" While her ice form shots count as attacks I'm not sure what the spread of damage is. What I do know is that counts as an attack. I also know there is some physical component to it because those arrows regularly broke my molten shell on my old righteous fire marauder. While life flasks do have the "reflexes" suffix available my flasks can't take advantage of it because they're all instant. I have one instant on low-life and two flat instant recovery. When I get spiked hard I need to recover quickly. My granite flask is there for when I know a cascade of attacks are about to land. Ex. A group of magic leaping goatmen or flicker striking pirates. I want the % armor suffix on that to maximize my damage reduction. Usually against these packs I don't have the time to throw up an enfeeble before they unload on me. |
|
" I understand, i use aswell the insta recovery flasks but the suffix is : dispels shock for me, since i have immortal call all the time. I will try next time and see how molten can destroy her. this game is fun ps : You don't want to come to Anarch ? Anarchy/Onslaught T-Shirt Owner. If I ever had the wealth, I'd make a build like this just to have something different from all the FotM builds out there.
Question: let's say I don't want to use Multistrike on Double Strike, and I only have a 5L to set up for. Would a DS + Blind + MPD + MSplash + LL work? I feel like it should, especially if the LL has quality. " Oops, false alarm, sorry. I was wrong there, thought you made a circle, but in fact you did not. |
|
" Without life on hit you won't be able to restore your life. This build takes ghost reaver so all life leech applies to your ES. Also multistrike plays an important roll in keeping blind active. It has a very low chance to proc so you need as many chances as possible to apply it quickly on bosses and large packs of mobs. |
|
" Ah well. I try not to think about using Multistrike because I believe it's overrated, but I forgot that Blind has a low chance to proc that you need MStrike to make it effective. I suppose one would run DS + Blind + MSplash + MStrike + LOH on a 5L. Sort of makes it really weak without a 6L and a MPD gem in there, but I could never afford a 6L. I wonder if it's best to split one's defense with life and ES. I notice you don't take Acrobatics because of the ES, but what if you went full life instead + Acrobatics? Something like this: Endgame Life Acro Build at 117 points A penny for your thoughts on this version of the Blindstorm Ranger. (I forgo the Duelist tree for claw/life nodes in the Shadow tree.) " Going pure life or pure ES is wasting potential. I've found that as a pure evade character the size of your buffer determines the success of your character. You either have enough HP/ ES to survive stray big hits or your don't. My original character I made was pure life but I quickly realized that there was no way I could ever get enough HP to survive end game content. I realized that by combining ES and life I could get a much larger total buffer with the same amount of invested skill points. An interesting thing to note about this build is that it scales incredibly well with any stat you give it. Nothing is wasted. - Strength gives you +life and melee damage (which translates to more healing and mana from leech effects) - Dexterity gives you accuracy (more dps and leech) and evasion (our core stat) - Intelligence gives us more mana so we can leech back mana faster and more ES This also holds true with other traits. The void barrier and nullification nodes would only be half as effective if you only used life. By using both you gain a much larger return on that skill point. Edit: It also illustrates how useless acrobatics is. High evasion, Blind, and enfeeble is more than enough chance to evade. Your main concern is dealing with what happens when you don't dodge. Acrobatics directly nerfs your survivability by giving you something you don't need and making you easier to 1-shot. Last edited by Rumthorp#7442 on Jul 10, 2013, 8:04:03 PM

That actually makes a lot of sense, since you can derive a lot of benefit from the Shadow ES/EV passives. Yea, I was never fond of Acrobatics, and even in its new state it doesn't really add much to the equation except for less stunnage if you're packing armor. And noting your chest, you'd probably be better off with a full eva chest because good luck in trying to roll more than 2 red sockets on a ES/EV chest. Think of all the wasted chromatics trying to roll an extremely hard to get off-color since es/ev gear are biased to green and blue.
Is going down by the Duelist worth the journey? I find investing more points into the Shadow tree a better tradeoff for claw crit/DPS and life even if there are more interesting notables in the Duelist tree. So something like this: Clicky Just to satisfy my curiousity, you think you could provide some hard figures? Numbers for your HP, ES, chance to evade, chance to hit, DPS/DPH, and crit chance. " The duelist tree offers more defense and utility than the shadow tree. - Proximity to an additional endurance charge - 6% block and 20% defenses node (which means bigger buffer) - Mana Flows (essential for sustainable double strike spam with such high attack speed) - Master of the Arena (longer range on melee and on melee splash) - Proximity to life regen (important for chaos damage maps) - 12% attack speed and proximity to 15% attack speed node - Diamond skin is on the way. I'm not able to log on atm to get the numbers you asked but when I get home I can. |

great buildd!! a lot of fun so far, im on cruel act 2 and im rushing everything, i died like 2 times only when i was like lvl 15 but later it gets soo tankyy, i destroyed normal kole and piety and i made act 1 cruel like on 1 hour
i might try it on onslaught later, i tryed on anarchy cauze i needed some build to do the exiles achievment, it might be dangerous on onslaught, but if i stack lots of evasion and i dont do higher lvl zones it may work i think, some advices for onsl? |
