[1.2.0] Ice Pierce Crit Ranger
I'm on nemesis with just around 200% and 4500 life, and doing fairly well. I have plans to be around 250%. lvl 75
Even on standard, depending on your gear I would still shoot for 200% from passives, but you want to have some balance to damage. So I dropped pcoc from my 4 link with ice shot and tried a few things again, using faster attacks now, but mana leeching is a problem, so probably should go back to pcoc. Problem is at this point of the game I get really bored and want to make a new build. I mean the new bow cluster is awesome and means I should try to get 10 more levels to fill it out to see my build really shine further. But honestly I'm kind of bored, hence why i messed with gem slots and a few different things with another character from this last patch. And now I just feel like making a new character altogether. For me the grind of end game gets old, and i just want to make another build and see if it works. Playing on these short leagues can kill it for me as well, knowing you just have to do it again. But being short on play time I want to be having fun with what I am doing. Guess I will keep playing this ice shot ranger in maps. My other nemesis character is demoted to just a piety runner until they fix some of this degen garbage. And when I'm alone make my other melee ranger, common to a degree but my build bypasses areas a lot of others are taking, and end game will have over 300% damage and 300% life, so making something common slightly unique. I just wish I could get more links on my chest piece. Never had this hard of a time making a 5L. probably try doing IS with LL, LMP, PCOC, FA. If I could sustain the mana I would have weapon elemental in there, but that would likely require mana leech, or a higher damage bow..... with a 6L!!! |

" Yes, tested. Yes, viable and strong. The bow in the OP is pretty terrible, yeah, but it never stopped me from more than holding my own in all maps against pretty much the top geared people in SC. Can't speak for SC prices now, but 7ex should be more than enough there. Definitely sufficient in Nemesis (but be careful of reflect). No information on HC/Domination. Heyy I have tried the setup gems you advised me (Swapping faster attack for WeD, and getting 2 red on my lione eye).
The result are good ! I've tested a few 69/70 maps with physical reflect (not tested ele yet), Lgoh seems pretty good to keep alive indeed due to the instant heal. Double reflect is fine also, I've tested to double curse and dual leech with LL and Lgoh just to see how far I can go in term of dps and curse. Definetly better than before ! Plus WeD allow for more lightninh dmg, with wrath and my tamming do the rest of dps once they're shocked/burned/freeze, also a reduced atk speed help me keep shooting longer time before downtime or mana potting ! Thanks again :D . |

Anyone have a preference for this build, between Lightning Trap, Bear Trap, and Conversion Trap? Or is it completely a "personal preference" thing.
This is precipitated by having to choose between Smoke Mine and Conversion Trap for a Quest Reward. I already have a Lightning Trap and Bear Trap, so if Smoke Mine is the way to go, then I can have both I guess. Last edited by trentjaspar#4416 on Dec 7, 2013, 9:40:41 PM

I don't use traps at all. Can't really help there, sorry!

I guess Conversion Trap could be useful for converting rare monsters so that you can get their aura for a short while.

Hey Kirilelis and other Ice Shot characters, currently I am making this build in Nemesis and I am considering ways to easily mitigate the reflect damage. I was considering using the unique chest Lightning Coil to deal with the physical side of reflect (since Ice Shot gets completely owned by both reflects) and thinking of Cold to Fire and Life Leech to mitigate completely the reflect elemental damage of Ice Shot. I am also considering only stacking crit chance instead of both crit chance and crit multipler due to being in Nemesis I don't want to get one shot by a reflect pack. Other uniques I was considering were Carnage Heart and maybe Gifts from Above.
Currently I am lvl 58 in Nemesis build I am terrified of reflect even dropping all my crit multi nodes I still have 386% crit multi (before this it was a 500% crit multi) I dunno if it is my gear or something that is absolutely destroying my crit multi. Here is my gear if you want to see it. Thief's Torment is amazing too. ( thanks for the suggestion) NOTE: It is very crap it is nearly all self found stuff lol. Gear:

I think this is a more optimal skill tree for your build in Nemesis Link: http://tinyurl.com/k85a2at Dropping Berserker for more life nodes in the circle is definitely questionable What do you think of my additions to your build? If any of the suggestions are good can you please add it to your post and giving credit will be nice. Thanks, ChaotticPanda FeelsBadMan Last edited by ChaoticPanda#2547 on Dec 8, 2013, 6:41:47 AM

I have been trying our your build for a few days. My character is currently level 69. It has been working out pretty okay, but the tankiness of this build is kind of weak. The other problem I am having right now is the mana issue, that is why I am using Mana leach with IS. I would like to know if there is any advice that can help me improve my character?
Here is my Gear

@ChaoticPanda
" I'll check the stats on that. Just offhand, though, it seems you're quite relying on the scion life wheel, and...well, I don't really see a good way to level that build up as crit. @vul3c931l4 " Yeah, you want a better bow. Besides that...well, I'd really advise you to get more HP on gear, that'd help the tankiness. Capped resists are a given, of course. For mana issues...yeah. Bugger it all, I'll add a paragraph to the OP on managing mana, this has come up enough times. Suggest you read back through the last couple pages, I think it's been answered at least twice. What is the ideal physical damage output that should be on the bow? I'm currently looking at Lioneyes but I realized even my current Citadel Bow has a higher phys damage output... (Lioneyes has much higher atk spd though)
By the way, I'm thinking of crafting an Imperial Bow by the chaos method. I was thinking of crafting a Harbinger Bow at first, but the atkspd is kinda disappointing. Last edited by pxf31#7218 on Dec 9, 2013, 10:49:19 PM
