Descent Races

very interesting race idea. looking forward to try it! :)
Waow this is looking amazing, i never raced in poe, watched a lot of streams, but never raced myself, i sure will try this one though. There is pretty much everything i'm expecting from this kind of game in this race description, remind me the old games i used to play 20+ years ago when pc were in their infancy.

I have a small suggestion for you guys, if i understood well, maybe you can put an internal timer to each character. This mean your race timer will start when you log in with your racing character and stop when you log out. This would let everyone race whenever then feel like it, rather than having a set time and timer imposed. Just a suggestion, both system have probably their good and bad side, but this seam possible with this kind of race at least.

Keep up the good work guys.

The real question here is whether we can still use pets.

Can't go anywhere without my trusty old (and lucky) kiwi.

I'm sad that you wouldn't give this far more rogue-like, D1 style 'race' a chance. I think it has the potential to really revitalise a process that has become far too stale by now: starting a new character, doing twilight strand, killing hillock, blah blah blah, reaching a safe spot, farming for a bit, moving on, *always* knowing what comes next.

But to each their own.

Roguelike...

First and foremost, these descent races are definitely an improvement to the normal races, they are something much more creative than the recent two new leagues.

Personally though, i would wish that races CEASE TO EXI... err i mean i would wish that these new features the races introduce, would be used to strengthen our standard leagues. Regretfully i am not one to enjoy races and would much more like to see a few roguelike systems in the standard leagues themselves.

That said, i really hope the D1 "endless dungeon" will become part of normal gameplay, as will an achievement system (but with stat rewards), rogue exiles, mini-games, more random factors/roguelike systems and so on, giving the option to the player to take a break from the standard progression, without having to take part in a race and play a "temporary" character.
This looks very interesting. I love the idea of "1 hour races". Since I have so many other obligations, this gives me the opportunity to participate in a few of them.

So count me in !!!

I am looking forward to it.

Or I need to made 1 character per Descent Race?.

This - its the general rule for the signature type of events: every event is another trial to improve your result - and your best result overall counts in the end.

Basically, if a player who dies is able to place above a player who defeated the final boss (or whatever the races win/finish condition is) then we have a pretty significant problem.

Why? In a "normal" race, if the one who decided to stay in Western Forest gets more xp than the other who kills Vaal, who wins? Now you take in count the 'different' rule: dying did not take you out, but just freeze your result: does this really change so much? Its plain 'arcade' style and that fits perfectly to the overall design of these races - you have a time limit and one life, make the best of it! ^^

The flaking out in act 2 instead of progressing to act 3, rerunning easy zones and skipping hard zones etc were the sort of things ive disliked about races all along, so i certainly dont want to see them repeated.

The arcade games youre talking about lacked random elements- the best player always won. Monster spawns and other elements could possibly skew that here, as indicated in my theoretical examples above, and i sincerely doubt thats the sort of competition most serious racers want from the seasons signature race.

Deleting the characters means less people will race. It'll just be a waste of time for those who don't win.
