For a single-target skill, I instead opted for a lvl1 Barrage. It is supported by Mana Leech, Added Lightning, Faster Attacks and WED. I noticed that my mana pool is extensive enough to support the minimal mana cost of a level 1 barrage, and it tops right off if even a single arrow hits. When I need to leech life with this, I use the Promise flask. The damage listed is for one arrow, not all four.
And lastly, my stats. I make up for the lack of the Grace aura with the Jade and Granite flasks.
I doubt the damage gained from the minimal crit chance will offset the damage lost from 15% miss chance. I also largely lose the ability to facetank with LGOH. Also, don't forget, if an arrow misses the first hit, it will also automatically lose the second and third hits it would have gotten from chain. That's a steep damage loss.
WED or Projectile nodes hardly matters since they are roughly equal. What you will find though is that if you have 100% Wed and 70% Projectile damage, a Projectile node will have a higher overall bonus. So try aiming at whichever you percentually have the least of.
The hit chance formula slowly declines as you increase in level, but is also affected by monster level. If you're hitting monsters above your level it will affect your accuracy adversely, while if you'd be trying to hit a monster below your level you'd have a much easier time.
I tried to use this build, spent alot of currency swapping my reave build to the arrow build, and now I've never had a more frustrating time staying alive in this game ever.
I can't live through An Academy map??!! Good thing that they don't let you go lower than 0% in experience or I'd be lv78 by now.
How are you guys keeping your life above 1/5th or 1/4th of the reserve? I have 3600 life, is that too little? I pretty much followed the skill tree to the tee, as I am level 80. Is this not a good build for Voltaxic? I know it converts it's damage to Chaos, is that not still elemental? Should I have went with a different bow or a different Build tree altogether?
I have found since originally posting this that maps in the range of 73 and 74 are relatively easy, and 75 maps start getting more difficult, so it is probably due to the health of the monsters in the maps going up as levels go up, it is taking longer to kill them. Of course their damage increases also.
I didn't level this build up Just switched right over to is at this level, but now I'm thinking I should have stayed with reave.
I spend more time running away in the Academy maps I've tried, than I ever did playing any other character even my witch...

First of all, your auras are a huge part of your dps. Once your auaras hit lvl 20 (even every level up from now on) you should notice a substantial dps boost.
Your low life: Your one ring has no life and a low ele damage roll. Id replace that with a high life ring with some resists. Your quiver has no life as well. Your belt is okay, but a leather belt with resists and a big life roll would definitely help. You may drop some damage, but you can't dps while running or being dead. :)
Personally I would aim for around 5k life in a softcore league with a ranged character (or more, also depending on your armor/damage mitigation techniques).
Voltaxic is a good choice for this build as it has good damage and makes you reflect proof. There are rare bows with higher ele damage out there probably. As to the chaos conversion: Note that only your lightning damage is converted to chaos. Regardless, your elemental damage will get buffed by %increased ele damage from tree (including lightning) and then the lightning portion will be converted to chaos.
You might want to experiment around with curses a little bit. Since your main damage is lightning (now converted to chaos) and fire. As the person above me pointed out chaos is not elemental. Thus it will not profit from ele weakness. Hence, projectile weakness might be a better option.
Projectile Weakness is not an option, as it interferes with Chain. If a shot pierces, it can't chain.
