[1.1] Davos Seaworth's Elemental Split Arrow Build - Solo every map with ease!
30% Increased elemental damage with weapons vs flat elemental damage on rings? How do i calculate the dps on rings like that?
For exaple, which would give me more dps, 30% mod or something like 1-40 lightning damage? Last edited by woodyfly#3854 on Nov 29, 2013, 10:08:42 AM

" It really just depends man. It depends on how much flat elemental damage and WED you already have. In most cases you'd want to choose 30% WED over 1-40 lightning damage, but you still can't skimp on the lightning damage. It's the bread and butter for this build. IGN: EmpathicAmoeba

This has been my favorite build of all the ones I've tried, really loving it. I have a question though.
How big a dps increase would it be to get increased attack speed on your bow, provided the elemental stats stay the same? I'm wondering if it's worth using a few exalts to roll attack speed on my bow. Same as above, is it worth spending a ton of currency to give frenzy a 6th link, when it already has 5? My gear for reference:

Hey Davos,
Interesting build. Based on what you showed is possible, I picked my first characters. However, I've been thinking about focussing on a single type of elemental damage (fire), by combining Iron Grip with Avatar of Fire. http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/666421 http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgQAA8YGDgn2DjwUcRUgFx0Zhhm0GjgaVRvIIJwlrSaVKk0s6TB1Mn4yiTpSOrNBqkMxRZZMMlFMUzVVS1WpVgRX4lnzXfJeE1-qYIhhIWFSY_1mnmqTbWxte3KpcsNz4XflfVuE74ZgjDaNfpBVkvOXtJrMmy2btZ1jpLGnhKsLrEesqqy6r421SLZBt7a-p8APwBrDOspKytPMBs2Y0k3dDd7G4drigOWO6mLrLOw49zL3iPjr-rH9Cw== What do you think of this, would it be viable? |

" Getting IAS on a bow is huge. You can probably do the math yourself. When calculating weapon dps, just multiply by 1.70 in place of 1.55. It's a pretty sizable dps increase. That bow would be incredible if it had IAS, mainly since it has such high chaos resist and the 3 LGOH is nice too. I'm not sure I'd risk 6-linking it though and losing your 5L. It's very difficult to get a 6L. If that's the route you want to take, then buy a new bow to work on. I'm glad you like the build! IGN: EmpathicAmoeba

" There's really no chance that would work for endgame. You only have 5 life passives. If you don't mind losing that 140% increased evasion, I'd recommend this method of getting to the shadow tree instead:

It costs less points, you'd get more projectile damage/speed, more life, life regen, 30% chance to avoid being stunned, and closer access to Charisma. I'm not sure why you're going so far up into the tree though. And I can't tell if this is supposed to be an evasion or armor based build. You don't have Iron Reflexes so I assumed evasion since you also had 140% increased evasion passives, but you also took that +50% armor rating. If that was just a means of making it down to the bottom of the tree, i would highly recommend this instead, you need the life:

" Uhm,.. both really, but if I have to choose: Evasion. Thanks for the help. Basically, I don't have a clue what I'm doing. This is my first character and I'm only lvl 15. I skipped out on all the life nodes simply because in other games I played it was a redundant stat (mainly Titan Quest). The reason I went that far up in the tree to the right was because I wanted the extra fire and ignition bonusses from Blaze, and criticals from Mental Acuity and Spell Power. I found that alternative Heart of Oak route too and agree it's better, but if you tell it's better to ignore the Blaze path alltogether I wouldn't object. Regarding the route to the left, that also was just a means to making it to Iron Grip and Avatar of Fire. Especially considering the apparent need for increased max life, maybe it's better to abandon that route alltogether and take one more resembling yours: I wonder though whether that won't result in mana issues. Also, the thing I am still really in dubio about is if I should get Resolute Technique instead of improving my criticals. Resolute Technique is on the AoF and IG side anyway. " It won't let you drop blood magic but could you drop LGoH and Life Leech? Probably not enough plus like you said, losing the flat elemental or WED is huge. Just a thought. |
|
" 23 LGOH isn't enough for high level maps. Especially since this build now uses the BM gem which costs twice as much mana. I'd say 40 is the bare minimum, but I recommend using a 20% LGOH gem which gives 54 at max level. IGN: EmpathicAmoeba
