Oh and today after heavy respec and loss of 25 regrets I was able to optimize route (thnx to stiffy) and grab deep thougts (forced to do them really), when I get back from gifts to my old perandus ring I have mana at 862 /380 reserved /482 to play. My discharge - 241. Yes 50% exactly :) But even with gifts (432) it's still playable.

Whoever that guy is, I assure you he's clueless. The devs personally have said that the damage is reflected first and then you leech, it may seem instant because it happens all within a second or two but it's a chained event. You deal X damage -> Y% of X damage is reflected -> you leech 8.8% of X instantly due to VP.

Actually, you leech before damage is reflected, which is why against reflect mobs you're sometimes left with lower than full ES.

No, else you would never be left with full hp after a fight. I've had the suspicion that discharge is a bit bugged since I started this build because sometimes (regardless of reflect) at full charges I don't kill monsters in one hit (at 73k dps*, mind you) and sometimes I do, even when they don't have mods that would explain it. My theory is that the damage roll is more complex than for regular attacks other than elemental hit because you're mixing elements and that roll is not always applied correctly. I mean, come on.. in Lunaris 3, even with high resistances, I should be able to insta-gib everything aside from Piety who survives 2-3 hits.

So in terms of reflect, if the damage roll is not applied correctly, same will apply to your leech. You will be left with less ES.

*I know it's a cross-calculation including crits but my crit chance is high enough.

Math can be hard to crunch from pure theory, I agree. We probably don't have all parameters. All I know is that I yet have to see reflect mob that will kill me. Not sure why is that so, I am always specifically observing blue reflect ele. spikes aura and it just doesn't pose any threat.

Besides, guy in other thread plays with dual void batteries, which makes his spell damage off the scale. He claims he doesn't have any problem in playing that way. I would sure loved video of him discharging at full charges +curse on group of reflect mobs though ...

haha yeah, reflect can be a pain but it's avoidable 100% of the time. Also I'm testing out cast when taken damage. My goodness, it's the best mechanic ever.

I went to a new setup:

helm: CwDT + life leech + Discharge + Consecrated effect (to offset the the damage penalty)
wand: CwDT + Enduring cry + Skeletons


It just made my map runs more fun =D free discharge cast at no cost, free ES recharge, and possibly more charges !

Ask him for a video of him running dual void battery in Lunaris 3 against a reflect pack. For bonus points let him use crit weakness on that pack. Unless he has extremely bad gear and a bad skill tree, he should die. I definitely did with just one void battery, quite a few times actually. But that's the life of quicksilvering through L3, shit happens. :p
