very nice. i just queued pvp arena, and i met a marauder.
i tried attack him but no dmg.
i asket him and he told me he got 10k hp, 700hp reg per sec, 70% block chance and reflect when block. i couldn't damage him, because i did more dmg on myself than on him. even if i got vaal pact. how this is possible? you say this build is so strong in pvp, but if every1 can make a char like that then this build is 100% non playable. i made this build just for pvp, i spend all my currencies, and now i find a retard spec that do nothing and i just cant attack him or i will die from reflect. pvp in this game is so funny.
i'm quitting or there is something i can do?

yes but even if i could stay alive (because while i had granite flask activated i got nearly no damage reflected) i could not damage him... thats the sad part. how can a physical character kill one that has 700hp reg per second and 70% block?
i did high level pvp in diablo2, arrived 8th in europe one year, and the block chance was 75% when u walked, and nearly half while you run. and there was no such high hp regen. if u get both of those things its impossible to kill you for a phys dmg dealer.

just because you used to own in d2 doesn't mean that you can waltz into POE, not know game mechanics and every single skill, and expect to own.

1. your gear probably sucked as compared to his. how much DPS do you have on Double Strike and Flicker Strike? What's your stats like? You can't expect to pit a poorly geared character against a well-geared character and expect to win, unless you have alternate non-gear based skills to rely on, which I'm guessing you don't because you don't sound like you have adequate knowledge of this game.

2. Also, I'll tell you what you could have done. You could have viper striked him and piled up charges on him, because blocking an attack will not prevent viper charges from being piled up. By piling up viper charges on him, you would have negated his life regen and forced him to use hp flasks while your own character (because CI) can constantly whirl away and regen ES without the need for flasks. You could also have relied on bear traps to deal damage without taking reflect damage.

In short, forget your glory days. POE isn't as easy or straightforward. You'll have to actually learn the game or keep getting owned.

Want to learn how to pvp?

Take a look at these videos and learn what you can: http://bit.ly/poepvp

I was undefeated at high level PvP and had a score of around 300/8 in Level 28 PvP.

u'r right in the first part man, but u must have misunderstood me. i said that period not to do an amarcord of my glory days, but just to let you know that i'm not a random and that i know how pvp SHOULD works. ofc there are many mechanics that i still dont know, but i saw many pvp rounds and played with 2-3 charachters vs a lot of different builds, and i can tell that that build is unbalanced. i dont think ggg can just do 1 patch @ week, introducing new skills and doing some changes, at one day PUF they balance pvp. if they dont start to balance pvp now, in the future will be a failure, becasue they will have more and more implemented things to balance, instead of FIRST balancing pvp, and THEN introducing new things according to the previous fixes.

anyway even if it could seems a whine post (maybe the first one was) i just asked for advices, and u gave me, so thank you.

edit: just tested viper strike vs a ranger with 10k hp, 600 life regen and -50 chaos resistance. he still regen more life than the chaos dmg of 4 stacked viper strikes.

Try a max leveled viper strike linked with increased duration, and then use the vulnarability curse.

@Anamaeus - great post, thanks!

281 dps on the new dagger compared to 223 dps on your old one so you are looking at 58 more average dps between weapons. It's a nice weapon, but the gutting knife has slower attack speed and no lightning damage. I wouldn't be fooled by the huge phys dmg, which is nice but it's misleading to say it does a lot more.

The lightning dmg and the attack speed of your current is good, so it's not as if you're struggling I'd imagine. The raw phys dmg of the possible upgrade is better for leeching though that's for sure.

If you aren't having a hard time killing with your current one, I'd hold off personally.

recently met a marauder in arena. he just spam heavystrike, and i got knockback every time so i couldnt attack him. and since here all its normal. i though t to kite him giving him some hit, then running until my es were full, and repeating this.
the odd part is that after i got heavystriked 1 time, i got knockback, but for like 1 second i couldnt move, like if i was stunned. i got eye of chayula so how this is possible? i couldnt move even with whirling blades. invalesco from the high of ur 300/8 can u explain me pls?

@Anamaeus Nice post, I just hit lv60 and switched over to CI yesterday. I've been following this build since November or December lol it was the first build I came across for shadow and I was like I want to do this.

Your information is much appreciated from aspiring shadows ;p I have a few comments, before switching to CI I would just stand and LS mobs while using hp pots now I am getting stunned/chilled really easily. I knew this would happen but I guess I just need to adjust my play style a bit. I haven't fully grasped the change yet, but I am loving it. Another question I have are what do the skel-bros do for you? Do they live long enough to distract mobs that stun/chill you?

Anyways, thanks Invalesco and all that have helped out with making this build. It took me 60 levels to finally do it and I can say I'm extremely happy I made it lol

Thanks for the response!

The skel bros are a diversion, if you place the totem behind you they'll start shooting the skeles out infront of you, up to six of them total. They fold like a lawn chair at higher levels, but that's not the point. You get time you need to reposition without the duress of mobs pounding on you so you can hit them with your own damage.

Chill/Freeze is counteracted by bringing along a flask with the Heat suffix, as it'll dispel that problem and allow you to get mobile enough to deal with them. Stun can be offset by having Chayula, which I think makes people lazy after while.

Your alternative is to bring along gear with the mod reduce stun/block recovery which essentially does help a lot. The other is just to keep your feet moving and only stop to cast a couple of lightning strikes at a time until you can out dps them before they stun lock you.

Hope that helps!
