I'll give you the definitions but you ought to at least read the guide before asking questions, as it more or less points out that this isn't recommended for newer players especially as a first main character. Not that it should stop you if you like a challenge, but it's unusually difficult for most to progress successfully to the latter stages of the build without some serious determination or planned spending.
CI= Chaos Innoculation, the principal keystone of our build.
ES= Energy shield, the thing you're stacking instead of HP in the end game
EB== Eldrich battery, something you do not pick up with CI, typically a very opposite build concept but still effective none the less.
Advice as a new player, patience. Shadow isn't a tank, it isn't a caster, it isn't a ranged dpser. You're somewhat of a hybrid that has to know where to stand in order to stay alive but still be effective, A ninja.
Anamaeus,
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I did read the whole post, and knew that it will be hard for new comers, but I, maybe, as you said, really like to tank, but shadow isn't a tank.
I wanted to start playing a shadow because I like diablo2 assasin, and that can be a half tank. So, I visited this forum and found some good guides. They are really attractive.
And now, may be I have to change my mind, may be this one?

As the above poster said, the build is tough as a first character. It was my first character and leveling was definitely a huge struggle - If you are willing to stick with it it's insanely fun and strong - but you will need to really work hard trading items and making profits so that you can afford some good gear, because the build doesn't really shine (or survive) until you have quite high end gear.
omarom2498,
Thanks for the reply. I will leave my lv10 shadow there, and,
i've a question about vaal pact...
i've recentrly took it, but it seems that the energy shield that i leech is the same as if i havent it.. i tested with 15k dmg with double strike and 6% life leech with blood rage.
its normal that i dont see any different even from critical hits?

It isn't the most noticeable key-stone in the game - If you really want to see the effect it's having, run unto a wave of either physical or elemental reflect mobs and start spamming lighting strike. Without Vaal Pact you might kill yourself very quickly.
If your double strike really is over 15k damage it should be a noticeable ability, but really doesn't shine unless you are fighting reflect mobs. The Keystone can be skipped, but if you are doing high level rare maps, reflect pops up quite frequently.
It doesn't really do much if your dps isn't high either.

i tested on a rare voidbearer in docks with life regen. i waited until i was at half ES, then i attacked with 1 double strike (i repeated this process several times, paying attention if the hit was a crit or not). then i took vaal pact and did the same.
i got 6k es and 15.1k double strike dmg
here's my gear (just got alpha howl so i've weared the first boots i found to cap resist, i'm waiting to buy new)
