maps drop rate

7% iiq + 33% iiq from heavy strike.
I'm trying to kill blue/yellow/boss monsters with heavy strike.
I got 25 maps in stash. Always trying to get more magic/rare monsters, bigger size, maze, 2 unique bosses.

You guys must have the worst luck ever. When I completed Merciless I had one map. I bought four more. Since then I've run probably 30-40 maps and have 10-12 maps in my stash right now and have never dipped lower than the 5 I started with. I have never focused on MF gear. I currently have around 30% Rarity, 22% quantity (plus I have a quantity gem in one of my skills which I occasionally use to finish rare/unique mobs). Most maps I run are blue, and average around 10-20% increased quantity. One of my best maps ever had two affixes (area is inhabited by sea witches and their spawn, 65% increased pack size). Man were there a ton of easy mobs in that map. Would have been better with increased magic or rare mobs, 2 unique bosses but just the shear mass of those squid things made up for it. They actually drop stuff too unlike the hoards of monkeys.

I average slightly more than 1 map per map. Sometimes I'll go 3-4 maps with no return, then I'll go on a run and get 4 maps in a single map, 2 in the next etc.

I can't tell if I'm just super lucky or you guys are just too proud to buy a few maps to get started. In my experience, once you have around 5 in your stash, you should never run out. I could understand starting out with one map. You would probably end up having to grind pyramid quite often until you finally got to about a 5 map buffer in your stash. Just buy a few maps and I'm pretty sure you will never run out again.

I love it when someone says buy maps like it's a common occurance. Last time I "bought" something, I had to drop it on the floor and the guy took the item and logged off.

Why would you drop an item without the person you're trading with first dropping their item as well.

I've gotten a grand total of 3 maps at level 64. Run through pyramid about 20 times or so total. Ran all 3 maps without a map dropping in them. I have about 40% IIQ with a 19% IIQ gem on my minions and I let my minions kill all mobs. Not sure what's up, but I'm just going to wait till OB to play again I think. Really getting bored with running the same thing over and over and over. :(

It actually is a common occurrence. People trade constantly in general chat, every day. All day. I think that qualifies as common.

If you're careful, there should really be no way to be scammed. I see people selling multiple lvl 60 maps all the time in general chat. I could trade you 4-5 if you're interested.

Magic find should never effect the persons ability to ENTER an end game location. It should however effect the quality and quantity once inside.

I'm kinda with this. Personally I'd like to see one of two things, one having a high chance to get at least 1 map. No guarantee but high chance to at least stay playing maps. Every one after that can have a lower drop rate than we have now, at least we know there's a good chance we will never run out.

Two, Kripp mentioned it quickly but putting a floor in. Once you get over lvl 70 getting exp is a real grind, which is fine but the times I managed to work my way out of lvl 60-61 maps to get lucky and get to 64-65 while in those I find lvl 60 maps. I think PoE trolled me last night when I got 5 lvl 60 maps while running a 65, the first 65 I was able to get in over a week.

I'm not sure exactly what Kripp's idea was, he just mentioned a floor but I was thinking just like the maps can drop two lvls higher why not limit them to two lvls lower. So on my lvl 65 map I would have found 5 lvl 63s and not be forced to go back to 60s.

This way there's a feel of real progression. Even if you have to lower the drop rate on the higher lvl maps. I know once I do a few 63+ maps I'm not going to have to drop back down.

I went dry on maps at lvl 71 and ended up having to do like 20 lvl 60 maps to get to 72. At 73 I found a bunch of 63+ maps and got to 74 in a night. 100 still won't come easy but at least I'll feel like I'm getting the max exp I can also I'm finding end game items rather than hoping for matching rare names so I can craft more rare maps.

There is nothing to do in the game if the map drop rate is kept like this :(

It sucks to grind.grind.grind for NOTHING !
