Time Capsule Thread: Closed Beta

42 .. the Answer to the Ultimate Question.. 4+2=6=2 x 3 which is also 23 everyone is a Discordian Now! Goodbye
First learned about this game through Kripparian's stream (which I mainly followed, at the time, to see some competitive WoW raiding)

I greatly enjoyed the first two Acts in Closed Beta, especially ActI.

Stalking the forums while waiting for the Open Beta, I got to love the CB community about as much as the game itself...

Two of the very first threads I stumbled upon were Reaper's 5th Diamond Unique Giveaway, and Charan's 5000th post celebration :)

And here I stand, ready for the wipe and the race... with my full collection of Kiwis...
Take care out there.
I am going to miss closed beta, but at least I made my mark in the game. I will forever treasure these moments I have spent in closed beta. Thank you all for making a wonderful game out of PoE, and lets continue with the trend.
Sometimes you can take the game out of the garage but you can't take the garage out of the game.

Getting into the time capsule before its too late.

Im an old time gamer, with some pretty cemented traditional beliefs on gaming. First video game console was an intellivision, and the first memorable game i remember as child playing countless hours of, would most definitely be Astrosmash.

Having grown up through the birth and growth of consoles, I feel I have definitely experiences some of the most creative games ever, over the years, and in todays day and age, its very rare to find a true special gem.

I can honestly say the last time I found myself so glued to a game, would have been in the more memorable years of D2s lifetime. This doesnt mean many many games before that didnt offer the same enjoyment, just that, for me, most games since were lacking a little something, and as far as replayability, well none of them compared.

I was invited to POE via the Random Invite Clock, and I never really thought much about it, because at the time, i was playing alot of D2 again, waiting in anticpation for D3. I tried POE out briefly, but its initial feeling was a little slow paced, and a little hard to control during combat. I mean, I dont care who ya are, you gotta handle quality to Blizz for that ever so smooth combat right? Anyways...

I hadnt bothered to research into what D3 was all about, Im not a fan of watching streams, hadnt played the beta, didnt really care. I just knew like every other game Blizz had released (that i played anyways), D3 would be freakin amazing too. Boy was I in for a surprise. And thats all I will say about that.

In my journeys through the D3 Forums, I had seen POE mentioned, and the frequency at which it was getting mentioned was enough to rekindle my curiosity. I admitted to myself, I really hadnt given it a fair shot, and so I set out to fairly judge this game, which I had casually brushed off previously. Boy, was I in for a surprise.

Myself, Im a Loot Hoarder. Cant get enough of those shiny lootz.

And here I sit. I havent moved far since. Played a little TL2, but was left with a "wanting more" feeling, which i think came from a lack of closed realm and controlled goods, as well as just a general lack of social interaction in game. Maybe I outgrew LAN parties, I dunno.

Anyways, In Summary :

I believe, that within ten years, POE will be in many TOP TEN games of the Decade lists around the internet.

GGG themselves, will be held on a pedastal as tall as the one "some" of us, have placed the diablo 1 and 2 team members.

And I ...

Well, I will be right here playing, IMO, the best game in the last ten years to have released. Granted, thats only if GGG keeps the servers on :D

Cheers.
GGG - Why you no?
Never played anything like this game before (Kings Quest VI was my first pc game lol) so it was a seriously steep learning curve for me. I am so proud to be a kiwi right now. You guys have done an amazing job on this project, I know how hard that had to be to create something so powerful from this little country and I am so glad you didn't feel the need to leave to do it, as most do here. You have made us so proud and achieved a seriously awesome game due only to your commitment to creating something great. POE makes other games I have tried since, pale in comparison and I just keep coming back after over a year and a half in closed beta because I love this game so much!

Thanks to rabidwolf9 (from another retro game/forum I used to play) who gave me my first beta key and kept encouraging me to try something that was so different to what I was used to. I signed up when the game was announced way back before beta testing was announced and waited and waited for beta to start. Somehow I have lost that account and when given the key I had to make a new one.

I think this game will go on for a long long time because of not just the passion of the developers but also the passion of the amazing community there has been throughout the closed beta process. The devs are a special breed, I see all the time on chat how surprised new players are that they come chat with us and talk about items and improvements and mechanics etc. It made you all human and as players we appreciated that but its also fostered the passion and commitment we all have for this game.

Congratulations guys for a job well done and I feel you are only just getting started here - there's so much more I expect from you all, so much more you will do with this game and I hope and plan to be here to see it all. Watch this space I guess :)

great stories guys, keep it coming, you have 3 hours left!

This game is the tits. Sorry you can't censor me, I'm a bit of a badass
One hour until the forums go down for open beta! I'm about to head off to do a microbiology lab, but hope to be back in time for the opening hours of OB!
