Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
" I'm now very curious as to how the MF system will work. Who's MF will be incorporated in the eventual drop? Will it be solely the killer's or possibly an average of the MF worn by all contributers? Will number of players, which enhances the difficulty, also enhance the drops? I think gcaliber was trying to say that having a character powerful enough to solo bosses while wearing a large amount of MF would make the looting situation better for people worried about getting robbed on the battlefield. I didn't see any mention of running 2 characters simultaneously, and depending on the answers to the questions in the first paragraph, I would sincerely hope that running a second character through just for his/her MF contribution would be pointless as they will not likely deliver the killing blow. give us it DanAbnormal All generalizations are false.

" signed.. i wonder why GGG trys to sell a green car by force while 90% + of their customers tell them they want a blue one. ok...after few month of thinking they came up with an green metalic one.. ;) ffa has no benefit whatsoever. its just cut-throat to group play. |

FFA would make tankier characters able to get more loot too (since squishy casters or rangers wouldn't be able to get close to the loot until all monsters die while the tanky one would be able to ignore the hits and go straight to the loot). This case is pretty annoying in Hardcore (perma-death), specially if the servers are highly populated (i've seen this in other game i won't name)
I feel that most of my experience with FFA loot wasn't good, so i'd like to give a try to (temporally) assigned loots. Game controlled looting is better than letting players controlling them. Specially if good loot rules are set. Last edited by KurzedMetal#4659 on Oct 21, 2011, 9:42:54 AM

I was dead set on making a ranger. Now after reading this I will go with a melee character.
Unless I go cut-throat hardcore. Then I could kill the warriors loot hogging and take what I wanted. >< I would highly prefer getting my own loot on my screen. |

Well, as far as i can see FFA isn't a disadvantage for group play. You just have to know the group and perhaps it's good to make things clear before going out for the hunt. (Who gets which items, and how to handle items all need?) So everygroup will setup their own looting rules. Or if one is grabbing all the stuff, why not cut his throat ?! 8P
I realy loved the diablo 1 feeling. Your champ is well equipped, you feel strong, like no monster will ever defeat you. You cleared stage 3 and enter the next stage. Suddenly you are surrounded by strong shooting monsters- you die.. and all your beatiful stuff drops.. surrounded by the monster which killed you.. now you have 2 choices, run in over and over and try to get your equipment back, or leave it there and loose all of it. With this in mind diablo 1 was frightening me, and i run first instead of just engaging battle, because you never now when you lose your stuff again.. |

Masterflea-You must either group with just friends or people you really trust.
But from the people I meet on the internet trusting them with loot would be like trusting them with my daughter they might say they wouldn't touch her but I wouldn't leave in a room together. |

Why don't create an option for group when its created.
Free loot for groups where all people trust other. And other modes like showing loot that better then {item-quality-level} for {random|next_in_queue} player for first {n} seconds. First workflow makes looting more simple, second (and possible other modes) is more fair when there is ninja-looters in group. |

I like Sling's idea.
Then the people who want to rush to loot can do it and the people who are range can enjoy games with loot as well |

I think you should make it where if you are in a team then the loot is different for each player. It will make it so it's not a spam click fest to get the loot.
