You say that judging someone based on their view of a specific game mechanic is absurd, yet that is what you have been doing for hundreds of pages in this thread. Even insulting people for wanting OPTIONS!!!! Hypocrisy is met with disdain. This is really simple. |

" I love real FFA (10+ years playing D2) and I am upset too. FFA is harder, no question. You have to loot and fight, position yourself and constantly pay attention and keep up with the group, if you want to avoid it you have to make agreements with people or make friends. In D3 you could just stroll along a screen behind everyone and pick up the loot. (more fun right?) Good for you guys protesting the FFA element of the game, you found yet another way to avoid it – get the devs to let you opt out! Just maybe, it might get more people playing public games, so that might be better for PoE. But if that experience is just slow paced slog then maybe it’s not so good. Once people get used to 'no competition' loot they will be very unlikely to try FFA unless there is a strong incentive to do so. - so far I don't see any. I really think this ‘no-tension’ mode has no place in HC at least – leave it as an option in default or maybe just low level games. If this thing comes down to all public games open using this extra slow timer its going to SUCK. Right now, I don’t see any reason to think otherwise. GGG should seriously reconsider this change. Options are BAD, dividing the playerbase and leaving a huge advantage for thoes taking the 'easy way' will seriously soften this game. |

" Personally I also enjoy FFA at times as well, but for friendly play (most of my grouping) I much prefer allocated/instanced loot. I think you are horribly mistaken that playing with longer timers gives players some 'huge' advantage. As you said it slows down the pace of play so overall there would be less items per unit of time, by that logic these players are at a disadvantage. Sorry, but options are NOT bad. Forcing your favored playstyle on everyone IS BAD. This is not dividing the player base either, if they created a separate league with instanced looting then I would agree with you, but this is not the case. If you want to play an FFA public game you are going to be able to make a damn FFA public game. People join them all the time now, why would this change when you actually get to play FFA? I know that when I join public games I am usually joining 'FFA / Ninjas welcome' type games, because I enjoy them more. However, my friendly parties don't like to play like that, we want even loot distribution and just a friendly coop experience. Now we can have the best of both worlds. If you honestly like FFA looting then you should love this change as well. Personally I think the compromised FFA/Allocated bastardized current system is atrocious. Its the worst of both worlds. |

* Add at least 2 sec to the timer
* Dont let the timer start before the one it is locket to is out of combat * Add some range on the pickup * Add 5 more sec if the person is trying to loot it but has full inven Why? * Atm you have to instantly stop dpsing and maybe run in to alot of mobs to have a chance to get your loot. * And if you toss one more spell the timer will run out before you get there * In a big party your loot can get gangbanged so that you can't get in range of it before timer runs out. * If you just noticed you have full inven, just forget having time to fix that |

" *shrug* I've played Diablo 2 for that long. Especially if you consider mods. Hell, I was in the Diablo 2 closed beta. It was a breakthru for its genre, just as much as Diablo 1 was a breakthru during its heyday. With that said, I've never, ever played in public Diablo 2 games because of the idiocy of FFA loot. It was always either solo or with friends. Or, rarely, I'd (unscrupulously?) join a game full of lower level players and waypoint to a higher Act to take advantage of the increased player count. " Actually im not judging the person, only their view or opinions of how loot should be. Options are just straight up lame as shit. And so are reasons behind wanting options. Tens-Of-Swords does a much better job getting the point acrosss than i do. But, its pretty much the way i feel. |
