You can pretty much judge a person in 5 minutes' game play wise about what kind of person they are, and if they are worth be-friending.


Alot of kids in this thread would be quick to say im some sort of greedy asshole that NINJA loots everything. But i help everyone constantly. Im the exact opposite of what these clowns keep saying that FFA loot supporters are all about.

Funny thing is id bet the farm off they never help anyone, hog everything and bitch about everything that doesn't go their way.

False. There are people here supporting FFA looting, therefore you can make a logical argument that people will play games with FFA looting. Also, just because people assume you're Mr. Master Ninja has no bearing whatsoever on whether or not they'd play with you. There are, quite obviously, several examples of players in this very thread who flatly do not care that you are Mr. Master Ninja.

I think its very positive for public groups to have this tension – it keeps the game fast and exciting, people loot quickly and are forced to make split second de
cisions because of it. It can be tough on the palyer, but its good for public games.

There are two ways in which any game mechanic can be beneficial to a game, it's either a good mechanic or it's more fun.

In the latter case, fun is strictly subjective. What is more fun for you is not necessarily (and, in this case, not at all) more fun for someone else.

In the former case, it's a bad mechanic. Gear is the most important aspect of character progression in Path of Exile, and having a situation in an RPG where someone can be denied any chance at progressing their characters in a meaningful way is bad. Sharing loot in Path of Exile is akin to sharing XP in D2. That is the role items play in this game, which makes pure FFA a bad mechanic.

That said, some people find pure FFA more fun (or, at the very least, they claim to). As a result, in spite of it being a bad mechanic, it will remain in the game as an option. That's actually completely fine by me. As you said, excessive loot timers can slow down gameplay. Therefore, in the event I start playing PoE with friends I'll probably set the looting to FFA while partied with them for the faster play, and then we can decide who gets what when we return to town afterwards and neckbeard over item stats.

This is exactly why I suggested earlier that they skip the options all togother and just give us D3’s instantced loot system, we will be almost there anyway and at least we can solve the loot clutter issue at the same time.

uh an instanced base loot map will be quicker then FFA. No more camping drops.clowns.

Instanced is not the best option in PoE, though. One man's trash is another man's treasure, therefore, with the excessive loot pinataing that goes on in PoE, items that some players want will be completely missed because they drop in the instance of someone who does not give a fuck.
