Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
i would think the "only your screen looting" is the best system. But I'm use to free for all, I never partied with random people though because of it. Always ran with my friends and we shared whatever dropped!

Cutthroat would be everyone has a small amount of time to claim an item by clicking on it, then the claiming players duel it out at full life/mana to see who gets it. Life/mana gets restored to pre-duel lvls afterward.
Otherwise, FFA loot, cooldowns or no doesn't feel cutthroat to me... It just turns everyone into spam clicking item Hoovers. Just suck up everything you see and drop what you don't want. Spam clicking to kill stuff is much more fun. I would vote for separate loot in PvE and save the cutthroat for PvP. But, I will keep an open mind and see how the current system actually plays out. |

What about Diablo 3's system of 'personal' drops? Each player sees their own unique drops that are only for their client. Seems pretty safe to me.

Although I had no issues with Diablo 2's FFA looting, but bots were a nuisance T_T

why not make a poll with Diablo 3's loot system, FFA and Chris' suggestion?

What about making: melee, the first who click it have 2 seconds to pick it up and if it's a ranged char that click the drop first they have like 4 seconds to go and pick it up, if they don't the item will go FFA on the ground and anybody can pick it up??

personal loot for player vs monster is the best option for player vs player should be a different one but don't know what are more suitable for that

How about this, when an item drops, everyone has 10 seconds to click on it if they want it. After 10 seconds the game automatically picks who it belongs to and picks it up into their inventory. No need to sit around waiting for anything, just click on it and move on and have the game do the rest.

so this alloc time, what happens if the looter which got the item doesnt loot it is:
rest of the party goes free4all and again u have the situation which u fought in the first place ? there are 10 types of ppl. those who understand binary, and those who dont

" Yeah, basically if an item drops you have 1-2 seconds to pick it up. If you don't get to it, it becomes FFa loot. |
