Looting -- The official thread for discussing the loot system. Updated 18th March, 2013.
" i agree with you on this aspect. too many magics and rares drop for there to be a need/greed roll. My Life For Aiur!

a "per class" looting system that only applies to rares or better may be an option. as an alternative to pure FFA while still allowing it for the majority of blue items and alt rares, it wouldn't matter that the loot is FFA unless something awesome drops for the player currently in the game.
Example: ranger, witch and templar are in a group. 2 rares drop, one for a ranger and one for a shadow. the ranger rare would be locked to the ranger for a set amount of time yet the shadow item would immediately be FFA. Pros: -rewarded with appropriate items for the class you are currently using -other items which may be useful to an alt are FFA allowing you to possibly score an awesome extra item. -FFA spirit maintained until high stakes items come into play -given rare or better items feel more like hitting a jackpot rather than worrying about a ninja or improper class claiming your weapon (which leads to rage) -increases play on character to farm items for that character rather than farming with a better character to gear an alt. Cons: -implementation -loot ninjas on FFA items and argument over what constitutes a class' items "What doesn't kill you simply makes you stranger." ~Trevor Goodchild

We can just accept that his will be a solo game with some Coop with close friends, trading and pvp. Competitive loot systems will never encourage public parties, the devs want a competitive loot system and therefore this game will never be conducive to public parties.
An allocated loot system is conducive to public party play and would work well in PoE default leagues. |

Sadly for me loot ffa is a game breaker. I'm older than most that play so lack the required reaction times so am penalised heavily in the looting ffa regardless of the time allocated to looting my own personal drops. I do my fair share of the killing yet don't get to enjoy the spoils of war if I choose to party. I guess I'll be solo'ing permanently from now on.

" My multiplayer PoE experiences have been completely fine thus far and I'll take my own experiences over your theories any day of the week. I'm not sure why you all seem to think that only one good item will ever drop for you, and that someone else will probably take it and then you'll be forced to play forever without anything good. Good stuff drops often in this game and with more players comes a greater quantity of drops. You're also going to find stuff that is good that you have no plans to use, so you can trade that stuff too and get what you need should you miss something. |

" Never play WoW, but I will take note for it. However, I don't see it as annoying/slow down the game. 1) There are only 2 - 4 items belong to you in a drop, and for white mobs, it only appears once in a while. 2) You can ignore the popup if you don't want the loot (5 seconds response time) Perhaps you mis-understand that every item needs to roll to everyone. Roll can only appear for the own and the person who clicks on it first. Other rules can be further clarify, and you still need to compete for items, but you respect the owner of the item. " Feel more like it is a disrespect and uncooperative. 85% of those will go to vendor. |

" Updated. Note: All the above are FFA for non-rare items, so I removed some of your points, since they are valid for others as well. Please let me know if I mis-represent your idea. |

please... please keep WoW out of PoE... It works for WoW that's it.
Don't try to incorporate something from an MMORPG into an ARPG... it doesn't work, it will only slow down the flow of the game. Even though I cancelled my battlenet account after 18 yrs because of D3... I will give the game one thing. It's individual loot system is one of the best ways to have ppl "not complain": about ninja's, about not getting loot etc... However they still complain when player 2 gets an awesome rare, but player one didn't (if they link it) etc. For the most part this game's loot system is "fine as it is". D3's system is a "big" change, but it worked (imo). ramble ramble lol. tl:dr Summary: Keep it (as is) or change it completely (D3-like) Keep WoW's system far away and let us never talk about it again. |

I like the current system. Alternatively you can add an option for the party leader to set it Diablo 3-like.
