[1.0.5] Lightning Strike Staff Crit Templar Build - 17k+ DPS - Dual Curse
http://pathofpoe.com/builds/view/lightning-strike-staff-build-beta/
Didnt spend much time on it, just to give you overview. You can see my gear on that site too, I have 6k tooltip DPS on Lightning strike and this character just owns merciless act 3 by one-two shotting packs of mobs and quickly dealing with rares. If you have any questions pm me in game Destaffo or on forums. IGN: Destafi

I am trying to take a templar this way. And I was wondering what the original build was doing over on the witch side of the tree. Does anyone know/remember what the point was in going over there?

It was something like this
You could also watch the video he explains his passive tree there. Mana reservation nodes should be taken also and with the improved damage in two handed weapons this build is at it's best right now. To crit or not to crit ?

Thank you. I always get a bit nervous when I see builds that travel to the other side of the tree. But I see the point in going there, and there is something worthwhile to take all the way.
I was thinking about a few things to get on the templar side: 1. Battle Staff training: 24% extra physical should be good enough to warrant it as it is right there. 2. Whirling barrier: It is 6 or 7 nodes away, but +10% block chance. Isn't it too good to miss? 3. Blunt Trauma: Pushing enemies away on a crit seems very valuable on a ranged build such as this. What are you're thoughts on that? Last edited by sikker#5501 on Nov 15, 2013, 1:41:54 PM

Since you have to invest quite a few points in critical strikes you can take some of
the nodes you're suggesting.I think you should take either the 24% or Blunt Trauma. 10% block chance is good but going from 12-18 to 22-28 doesn't make such a difference. I'd try Blunt Trauma since it's only 3 points and if it doesn't work you can respec it easily. To crit or not to crit ?

I was thinking of something like this:
You miss out on some things, and you gain a few things (plus you have a few more points left). In my suggestion it might be worth it to drop the added accuracy and reduced cost of skills and just take the extra strength node over at the +2 max res node, and go that way down to the marauder tree. With the leftover points, you can start working your way down to the bonus life at Scion start, you can take extra armor, you can take extra increased phys dam, or you can take the dual curses. I personally like the extra 10% block, as I think that the increase from '12-18 to 25-31' is where it matters the most. Also it isn't too hard to gain extra block if you want. The added nodes around Sovereignty and Inner Focus will make it possible for you to run 3 auras (at least if you have Alpha's howl), or 2 auras comfortably w/o having to worry about mana depletion too much. And said auras will be stronger too (not sure which auras to run, but probably offensive ones that adds to damage) |

Does this guide still work?
I just started playing PoE and my Templar is level 29. I followed the leveling guide (level 20, level 40, level 60...). It's working very good right now, but I am worried that it wont be very good anymore later in game. What happend with the release of the game and how should I adjust the build to it? |
