I'm so freaking jealous Juhazzz!! Where did you find it?

:D Actually i've had poexplorer.com open for the last 4 days and "Soul Taker" in search, again it was the first thing this morning what i did, "Search" and ta-da, there it was, instant offer there to just get it :p
I don't know if anyone has asked this already, but any thoughts on which gem is best to upgrade first? Melee Splash or Infernal Blow? Or should they be brought up equally? For us poor folk who have to pick and choose our 20%'s :)
Hey hey!
Boy... I have had the most frantic 4 days of my life! As some of you know, I have been working on getting my arse back to work. I know... but hey, gotta pay for dat internetz. Anyway, I spent the past few days moving into a new apartment, training, and refreshing my memory on the 6 inch thick rulebook. Needless to say, I have had no time over the last few days to even get my computer set up in the new place.

So... for those of you that had questions, I hope a late answer is better than no answer. And for you guys that already have Soul Taker... Congrats, and I hate you.

Oh and P.S. I thought it might be a good idea from now on to color my text since there are now over 50 pages, plus it makes me feel special and important!

P.P.S. Thanks to those of you who are helping out answering other peoples questions! Much appreciated.

Hey dragon, my mara was a 2h marohi erqui ground slammer, then i found your build and started working on it, gotten a 6L chest and all was going great i had 4.1k hp with almost the same stats as yours except for the dps. Then after thinking about the CI buff, and how elemental reflect is painful and dying to it many times, and the possibilities of nerfing bloodmagic stacking auras, and it actually lowering our EHP, i theorycrafted a CI build, Then REALIZED IT!!

Current Build:
Spoiler
http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgEBAdwLYQyNDPcNSQ6tEHsS4RXXGNsaMhtFHNwegSFgJIsn7Si1KaUqOCsKLL8yCTwtPQ9AVUCgQYdDY0OcRnFHBkuNTdhPfVFgVmNY9VnzXhNfamCIYSFhUmaeb1dxTXKpdPF4DXloerh7jHy7fNl_xoBWgseE74aujHaOv4_6kyeVIJrPncSePJ65n8ui6qluqZWsqqyvrpO0DLTFtfK3Mbc-vjq-isAawQDBBMHFwuzDbcOGxPbGrteG2xrb5-Lq55Hp1ewY707z3fVL_xw=

This Build focuses on:
-Chaos innoculation, Ghost reaver, vaal pact, unwavering stance, iron reflexes and resolute technique.
-A claw build that gives 12% life leech ton of armour and 56% resistall from passives alone.
-with aegis aurora 11k armour and 3.5k es, i almost stay at full es the entire time
-tempest shield linked with manaleech, iron will and reduced mana, the mods on these supports gems are 100% so tempest shield stays on 17% mana reserve.
-Equiping aegis aurora and and tempest shield gives almost 67% to block attacks. Stone of lazhwar and Rainbowstrides give almost 55% to block spells.
-DOUBLE STRIKE INSTEAD OF INFERNAL BLOW.
-Blood rage to get more leech and then getting those free frenzy charges.

my Gear:

Spoiler

Currently working on getting a dream fragments, divining the chest so it rolls higher es/armour. Getting rid of gloves to make room for manaleech/highes gloves.

I think after getting better armour on almost all my gear i can drop determination and run hatred which can boost my dps by a LOT.

the downside of this build is the manaleech, you need roughly 4%, and i linked tempest shield with manaleech incase of ooming in no regen maps.It fills up my manapool exceptionally well, taking in consideration that tempestshield can have higher dps then the comp im running now, this can really be helpfull.

the upside is the total life leech: 12%from passives , 7%warlords mark(you can run vulnerability if you'd like), 4% from bloodrage, and from my claw another 5%: which gives a total of 28% lifeleech :P

once i hit lvl 84 i made this build, it's really endgame so i dont really recommend it to everyone. i just wanted to have fun tweaking Your build Dragon into perhaps a better endgame build? Just wanted your thoughts and everyone else's to see if this is good or not.

I generally try not to add my input to ES builds simply because I don't have any exp with the melee versions. So, based on my very limited knowledge, this build of yours looks solid.

Every single time I tried to theorycraft an ES version of my mara... I always got hung up on 1 thing. Status effects. Unwavering and Dream Frag eliminates 2 of them, but still leaves the absolute worst and most dangerous untouched. Being shocked in endgame is a quick ticket to 15% exp reduction. Ofc, there are ways to reduce or eliminate the chances of getting shocked even with ES, but the cost always ends up being to high for me.

When I started my mara I had put immortality on the top of the list. I wanted to create a hero that just could not be killed. That isn't quite what I ended up with, but I am still pretty happy with the results. I achieved this by prioritizing survival above all else. The next step was efficiency. Taking the nodes, relative to what I needed, that offered the biggest gains for points spent.

So what does any of this wall of text really mean? It means I haven't really been able to convince myself that an ES version of this build is 100% endgame worthy. But don't let that stop you. You asked for my thoughts, and you shall have them :) And remember, my experience with ES is pretty limited for melee, so don't take my words as fact. I'm really just an average Joe, not a pro gamer or streamer.

Best of luck to you.

With 13k armor,81res, 3.5k hp and 700 ES,180hpreg, aegis aurora and 61% block(35%spellblock overall) am I completely immune to multishot voidbearers?

I am considering farming another 10 exalteds to get the new axe in docks, I'll only have about 70quality + quantity though, but I'll still have about 10k dps so clearing speed is excellent.

I'd only consider farming on my character if I have a 0% chance of dying no matter what, and I refuse to waste time(exp) farming on a diff char.

Also lunaris doesn't have any threatening magic at all, and everyone seems to just tickle that my energy shield would never break, the free amulet also grants 40% rarity and 20% quantity, would that be better?

To answer your first question... yes, you will be completely immune to voidbearers of all mods. As for lunaris, I haven't actually ever taken my stone of laz off b/c I know what it was like before I discovered the joy of owning one. So, my experience on this may be a bit rusty, but I am pretty certain that "Exposed Mammary Gunner Chicks" may pose a threat to you if you are wearing mf gear. Especially when you are inflicted with the vulnerability curse.

Pre HP nerf, I used to farm lunaris 3 in mf gear. It was actually pretty safe up to Piety. But Piety was super dangerous to me when I was in mf gear. It could have been b/c I was using soul reaper on weapon swap. One thing I learned the hard way, you don't want to be holding a 2h mf weapon with this build when Piety is in her Cold form.

Dear, Dragon :)

Thank you very much for the post and the apology.
Spoiler
Few days ago I was close to even rapport you, but I appreciated so much what you are doing for the community in your guide. Maybe I shouldn't start a post about nerfing. Armour + ES + AA is godly setup and maybe endgame should look like that but it is so much better than everything else IMO... So thanks again and I think we can have some fruitful conversation from time to time. I also love to theorycrafting and practice with the builds and items.
About the gear cost:
Congratulation for gear finding and especially crafting the 6L chest. This is really expensive piece of gear. Several days ago I crafted a chest similar to yours http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/443287 and sold it for almost 24 exalted. Your weapon also is worth few ex. But I have to admit that mara with axe or sword looks much better than unarmed :(
About the damage:
I'm addicted to big damage, but you are 100% right with ele reflect. I was dying because of that. Now I'm replacing "added fire gem" with "LGoH" on -res maps. This is much better than life leech, and I will explain why. Single mob is not dangerous, only a pack with a rare with "Allies reflect ele dmg". When I hit a pack like this all mobs are exploding in one big BUM. Life leech did not protects me because life addition is slow (even my constant 12% LL is nothing.) Life gain on hit have much better chance to save me because life gaining is instant. The game counts every melee splash and blow of every monster separately and instantly adds a lot life from LGoH to everything. It can save you.
About the new axe:
This is so perfect to your build (or almost every 1h melee build). I will try to buy the axe for tests asap and I will also lend it to you for some tests. But honestly to remove blood magic gem from the 6L I needed only: have some free mana, 2% mana leech on equipment and spent 2 points only!!! near duelist starting points. This is enough for having much more dmg from "adding fire" gem or constant survi from "LGoH" with benefit from not spending more than 100 life per mouse click. This is really worthy IMO.

Hi LeMing,
Thanks a lot for accepting my apology. I feel like such a jerk for reacting the way I did. You would never guess that I am an adult sometimes -_- I am glad we patched things up.

I had no idea my chest could be worth so much. I had guess my new sword was worth a few ex, but the thought of selling my chest has never crossed my mind so I had never actually taken the time to research what similar ones would cost. I'll admit, my luck with crafting has been 1000% better than anyone else I know of so far. But it is offset by my abysmal luck with drops. I still have yet to find a damn Bringer of Rain =( and I farm A LOT.

Your absolutely right about the LGOH. I really should mention that in the guide. It is even better lately. I think that LGOH used to only proc 20% effectiveness on splash hits, but since the patch that changed the way damage is calculated, LGOH is no longer effected by damage effectiveness. Sucks for those that were using skills over 100% effectiveness, but major buff to everyone else.

My gear has gotten to a point where I have stopped putting LL in for -max resist mods. For quite some time now, I have only been adding LL to my 6L for bosses that I know to be fatal to me. Since the buff to Splash's radius, I have been swapping out Infernal Blow and Faster Attacks for Double Strike and Added Fire Damage when I run ele reflect maps. Ele reflect seems to only be dangerous when combined with the corpse explode. Remove that factor from the equation, and the danger is gone.

I am also a HUGE fan of LGOH. I wish I could get more than the meager 4 per hit that I have. But since the only time I need healing is vs a few select bosses, I have been leaving my LGOH gem in my stash =/

You know I just hate mana =(
If it weren't for that, I would have given your suggestion a try. I can't explain it, but mana just irritates me with the way it currently works. I used to be a GS mara you know. Before multistrike and splash came out, I was a weak 1h/shield GS mara. I only had a 5L then, but even with a mana leech gem, I could not keep up with the cost and eventually ran myself out of mana. That is why I spent weeks trying to 6L my chest so that I could run a BM gem without sacrificing dps. Ever since then, I have just been anti-mana. There is no logic behind it, just a grudge between me and mana lol. With the new unique axe, this build can have the best of both worlds... I only hope someday I can afford to own one.

Thanks again for letting me say sorry for being a jerk, and thanks for sharing your experience with us.

so is this build still strong? im accually want to try this build out cuz it looks like i can survive all desyncs and laggs with this build.Im planning on investing ~20 ex on anarchy do you think thats enought to make this build work? Also from what lvl you become beast in terms of tanking and dps (60+/70+/80+ lvl). And 1 more question - Do you think 280 pure phys 1.53 att speed sword would for for this build fine?

The build still kicks ass, but as several posters have already pointed out, it can be a challenge without very specific gear. I have no idea if 20 exalts can buy you the gear you need. I honestly rarely buy items and am pretty clueless when it comes to prices.

I honestly don't know what level the build begins to dominate. I do know that it really shines once you acquire an Aegis Aurora, but I didn't level my mara with this build. I leveled before Splash and MS were in game. I think someone that has recently leveled this build would be better suited to answer this question, but if I had to guess, I would say at 75 with the right gear, you should be destroying 99% of maps.

I tend to shy away from higher attack speed weapons due to using the Blood Magic gem. Since mulitstrike provides such mana/hp per cast efficiency and huge APS boost, I recommend a 1h weapon with extremely high top end damage. Generally these weapons do not have very high APS. If you attack to fast, your killing the benefit of having such high life regen. To me, it is not worth sacrificing survival stats for a small increase in dps.

Thanks Rahven32.
Totally forgot about those mechanics. Kind of weird that Blind enemies hit you 100% of the time when you take Unwavering Stance. I guess its because of the not being able to evade anymore. But I would expect a blind enemy to run around like a chicken with its head cut off.:)

The damage Tempest Shield does is so minimal that added damage, and lightning pen are pretty much useless. And you are probably totally right about culling strike being the best possible support for Tempest Shield. The only other possible choices I could conjure up were Chance to Flee, and Knockback. But i think i will probably go with culling.

Don't forget that some of the support gems you mentioned increase the mana reserved of tempest shield. You may not have enough mana to link anything other than 100% modifier gems to it.

Don't discount blind either. You may not personally benefit from it, but if your playing in a party and some of those people DON'T have unwavering stance, your helping boost their survival tremendously.

Iron Will seemed pretty lackluster to me when I used it. But if you have a free gem slot and nothing else to use... why not?

Chance to flee would just be annoying, as would knockback. Chasing mobs down is anti-fun for melee.

What do you think of taking the 18% increased physical damage from Oak in Cruel, Dragon?

Is it worth it, or is the skill point better?

Skill point is better by far. There are some pretty meaty new physical nodes that you can get with only 1 skill point.

OOOO... that is a good question! Glad you brought it up. Melee Splash is the best choice to level up first. Simply because with a max q splash gem, you can now use other abilities in place of Infernal Blow for those pesky ele reflect maps and still have pretty impressive radius.

And... with that I think I am caught up? I would like to remind anyone that actually may have read this entire page of text that the answers to MANY of the questions I get asked are located in the FAQ section. It is the 2nd post, and directly under the OP.

Hope you guys are having fun! I am not really sure how much I will be around in the next few weeks. Returning to work as a Railroad Conductor as of monday. I'll do my best to keep this guide up to date so long as people remain interested.

Damn ! I just got the new Soul Taker axe, it's 356 DPS and replaced Blood Magic with 15lvl Melee Physical dmg gem which i happened to have in stash, dps went from 10.6k -> 15.8k !

I'll record a video and upload it at some point today, really not much need for Ele Weakness curse now, as the physical damage is a lot higher than before.

Here's the video with new Soul Taker

Well, well, look who's back :)

Remember you saying some pages back, that you won't be around much, mind if i ask where you've been ? Working ? Kinda haven't been familiar with the word "work" in the past 2+ weeks, been enjoying summer vacation from work, still almost 3 weeks to go :p

That's quite good for you to write on different color i would say !

edit. Can't understand why i didn't earlier use Dominating Blow in Elemental Reflect maps, just made one 72 map with quite bad mods, thought it will be impossible to do, but then afterall it didn't even once go to HP pool, even with all the ele dmg auras on, just ES went down sometimes.. And my Dominating gem is just random selfpicked lvl 3 gem :p
