Anyone know a build that doesn't spam ONE skill 99% of the time?

Just to play devil's advocate I would have to say with the current state of the game that D3 "builds" (lol) used more varied skills than POE charas.

Before you shit a brick try to remember the D3 playstyle. You used almost every skill on your toolbar, sometimes wishing you had more slots.

I played a Witch Doctor, I would use darts, grasping hands, acid spew, raindance, my pets & a buff. I was always using different skills for different situations & mobs. It wasn't a 1 skill spamfest & all the skills offered a different mechanic to the others which made them better for certain things.

POE has a lot more behind the scenes depth but the current gameplay lacks many of the diverse mechanics we see in other games.

The one thing POE needs is mechanics. Mob mechanics & skill mechanics, that is what makes a truly great game.

FP, fire trap, zombies, end cry, curses (offensive or defensive), flasks (offensive or defensive), and I could use a totem but Im not a fan.

Edit. I use molten shell too.

100 points for you sir :)
The skill/link system pretty much ensures that the game is going to centralize into a few skills. A 3 link is probably not as strong as a 4 link, a 4 link not as strong as a 5l, a 5l not as strong as a 6l. So as you progress and min/max more, you're going to trend towards the skills that are more centralized but more powerful. Hence more and more "press one button to win" builds.

You're playing the wrong game. Spamming a single skill is the playstyle of Diablo type games, and GGG chose to perpetuate that.

I think skill rotations were one of the few things Diablo 3 did right. I enjoy PoE though but more skill related combat would only improve the game.
Unfortunatly it does not look like GGG is heading towards this direction.

Having more skills with more power but a short cooldown would be really cool.
I know there are people who despise long CDs and I understand this but my perspective is not a MMORG but rather League Of Legends with skills which have ~3 sec cooldown.

Spamable skills with low cooldown which are worthwhile because of high burst.
Thats the way to go.

In Diablo 3 I really liked the combat system because you could put yourself in dangerous situation, do a lot of damage and then use cooldown based skills to heal up,initiate and escape.

Yea, if Diablo 3 was more complex in itemization, trading, crafting, items, more game mechanics, damage types, quests... it would be incredible good. But unfortunatly those points Blizzard missed were absolutly devastating for the game.

But spamming only 1 skills is NOT FUN, I highly doubt that anybody can ever convince me of the opposite.

So please GGG, introduce strong burst/mobility/survivability skills which have a CD of 3-8 sec. Actually, you just have to copy League of Legends and merge its combat action with ARPG (Haters incoming now, but I dont care^^)
Read my above post. I use 9 different skills. Yes, I have different flasks for different situations so that counts :)
I dunno if it's really something to argue, yes you can play the game with one main attack and a bunch of buffs/deduffs, or you can play with a handful of skills, but that's a handful out of a handful. I want more skills like arctic armour or traps rather than a bunch of skills like searing bond that are incredibly niche, despite being very interesting.

Even better, support gems that would make dmg of a skill increase for something like 100% but will have a cool down. So you would have more reason to use 2 different dmg type skills. People that like spamming one skill will not use this support gem. More options is always better, especially when PoE has a core system that makes it possible and "easy" to implement
anyway Mobs doesnt force you to do it, those have a pretty simple mechanics/concepts imo.
The issue is not that builds are just single skill spams, they aren't, in fact most of my builds aren't single skill spammers

The problem is that single skill spamming skill builds are the most broken ones, its a balance issue, and it means looking at skills like FP/EK/LA and toning them down

Outside of Spork/FP/EK/LA builds there aren't very many other builds that are viable end game without a shit ton of gear. If you nerf those things you basically ruin all the non-gear dependent build except Groundslam.
