Should PoE2 take the back seat?

this is just a failure of project management on all levels and a lack of foresight nothing more and nothing less

it doesn't need to, they just need to get it to a point where they can split the devs again.

How about both games have their own teams and none of them needs to take the backseat?

Seriously do they not make enough to expand their team?

They will have a small team of interns and juniors for POE1...

They spent too much money on POE2 to not focus on PoE2..

Absolutely not. PoE 2 is GGG's future, whether you like it or not. As someone who's been playing PoE 1 for 9 years I fully respect their decision and urge them to invest as much resources into 2 as they can. PoE 1 is stable, it has more than a decade worth of content and won't go anywhere anytime soon.

Depends solely on future content and seasons/leagues. PoE is a game designed around a flowing economy, seasons, new content and resets. IF(!) we get that, PoE "won't go anywhere soon". If not, the game is more or less dead. And luckily, it looks like we're at least getting some effort put into it, which is nice. But I am expecting more form them than 8+ months leagues. Long-time fans, players and supporters are worth more than that, in my opinion.
Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.
