Should PoE2 take the back seat?
PoE1 streamers and their audience have played thousands upon thousands of hours of PoE1 and are very used to playing it. It's what is familiar and comfortable to them, it's what they are good at.
PoE2 is a much better game that deserves all of GGGs focus, it had way more budget during its development and it has way better combat pacing. There are builds that are too weak and slow(EQ among others), while there are also builds that are too fast(spark among others). There's no need to even make new leagues for PoE1. Just let people who enjoy it play it, it's got all the developmental time any game needs. If it's not a finished product by now, just let it go and focus on moving forward. If oldheaded streamers want to play PoE1 with their oldheaded audience, let them. What's wrong with that? There will always be streamers that embrace the modern experience and there will always be oldheaded streamers that cant let go of the past. The audience is the same too. I would prefer it if they completely cut off development from the old game. It's enough to maintain servers and keep the game "alive". That's all the support I expected from GGG. Why would you waste developmental resources in a game that is so old and complete? It's already got way too much going on with it in terms of systems and people want more? Very strange. PoE1 players are literally lucky that GGG even kept the servers up, and that's really all they should expect out of support for PoE1. You can still play the game. |

Mathilication, Zizaran or Kripparia, insert low-tier streamer X here, do not speak for the community, they speak for themselves. They for sure don't represent me. Shutter PoE 1, focus on PoE 2. Just like others in this thread and other threads have said.

I don't know about "back seat"...
PoE 2 should be the focus, but PoE 1 should absolutely be a focus. PoE 2 is SO DAMN FAR from the complete experience PoE 1 is, so until PoE 2 can compete on that level, PoE 1 should absolutely be updated with new leagues and tweaks. Everyone saying PoE 1 should be scrapped, are all historyless people totally blind to the fact that A LOT of players dislike PoE 2 and would jump on a new PoE 1 league like crazy. Giving your long-time, loyal fans the middle finger is never a good tactic. PoE 2 is the superior game when it comes to graphics, animations and new player experience. The latter is probably the reason why we have these "new players" here, saying "what should be done to PoE 1" based on replaying the PoE 2 campaign a few times. PoE 1 is (for now) the superior game when it comes to everything else. Scrapping that would be stupid. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you. Last edited by Phrazz#3529 on Feb 6, 2025, 3:47:01 PM

No one speaks for anyone but themsevles my dude.
I think GGG should rededicate themselves to doing exactly what they promised (and i don't use this word lightly, but they have explicitly stated their plan and sold packs on that premise so its a promise). If they had 7 people working on POE1 leagues and we got some pretty okay and even a great league or two out of that over the last couple years, then put 7 people on POE1 leagues rotate them and let the rest work on POE2 Makes sense to me and they did in fact promise to work on both games. Ideas that they can't spare 7 people rotating in and out are dumb, both Johnathan implying it, and the posts on the forums on both sides that are stating it... equally. Work on both games and stop with the dumbshit. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years. |

Its confusing they ever thought they could really split resources.
PoE1 leagues were always barely out on time or late, so they were using 100% of resources or reasonably close. So what happens when you want the same devs on another project that appears to be years late and not nearly done? Easy to armchair quarterback but not sure why they didnt just have two different dev teams. _ Also, low effort leagues are a thing. Make every mob drop harvest resources or essences and see what people craft. Make it void if you have to. Allow 8 mods on items instead of 6, but then a negative mod. You don't have to design massive new content each time. Last edited by trixxar#2360 on Feb 6, 2025, 8:15:15 PM

" They've been doing leagues and working on POE2 full time for at least 6 years right? This is the thing, if we take them at their word they made most of the last couple years of POE1 leagues with from 1 to 7 guys rotating in and out as needed. In those years have been a some duds and some bangers. Which is to be expected. I don't think they need to evenly split anything, if they can make Settlers with 7 people (a banger IMO) everything will be fine. Find 7 to 10 ppl with a passionate league idea or experiment and let them go to town every 3 to 4 months. While you slowly release POE2 classes and act content as leagues. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.

Continuing to prioritize development on PoE2 at this point is spending good money after bad. Send it back to the drawing board and we'll revisit it in a few years and get back to developing the game that's gotten the company to where they are now.
(This is a joke) PoE2 is a great tutorial for PoE1. Last edited by Lixy#2668 on Feb 6, 2025, 11:40:52 PM
