Thoughts on the upcoming month-long event?
" I get the feeling that a lot of the changes are going to be MASSIVELY overpowered, so don't expect the usual level of slog. I think we're flying to the moon on this one. |

It's better than nothing, BUT i'm kinda afraid that they will put out a bunch of never tested stuff that could brick the game...i hope i'm wrong

" Doesn't matter to be honest. You can brick characters all along since forever. Probably impossible without removing all player power, heck even PoE2 suffers already from it. My SS champ skipped several Uber phases before, so I hope none of these 19 are tested and at least better than Blood Mage. |

" I think that's the idea here. I don't think people should go into this event with the hope/expectation of it being balanced and firmly tested. I think people should go into it thinking "this can be crazy, unexpected and fun". This isn't a league, nor a solution; it's a band-aid. And as far as band-aids go, I think it can be fun. We'll see. I'm really hungry for some fresh PoE 1 action, so I'll bite. How hard and long I'll bite, remains to be seen. Sometimes, just sometimes, you should really consider adapting to the world, instead of demanding that the world adapts to you.

" Why are you slow tho? Wanna learn how to get faster? |

" I see it a bit differently. This is a good chance for GGG to show how they're gonna handle developing both games simultaneously. They could've just slapped a bunch of old league mechanics together and magnified their effect for band-aid content, no need to create something new from scratch. If this turns out to be broken, low effort slop then that's a glimpse of what we can expect from the future of PoE1. If this turns out to be something that has effort clearly put into, then maybe we can expect something good for PoE1 in the future. Maybe I'm overtly hopeful, but I think making an event with completely new content is the perfect chance for them to show their future intentions for PoE1 since we're long past the point where their words matter. It depends on if it's voided or not, I hate that they aren't up front with that sort of thing. Half the events lately have not been, which is great. I enjoy the fresh economies and mechanics but my overall reason for playing is usually to save up for some big purchase to give to my long term characters in Standard. If everything I do for a month is ultimately deleted then my desire to put in the work (it takes me about 2 weeks to be comfortably farming red maps) then is far less appealing.
(yes I know I'm the 1% that cares about standard, but trading is everything to me and I HAVE to use leagues to buy items. There's no post-mid game but before mirror-tier bracket of regular traders in standard lol.) *Never forgetting how good this game looked at 32:9 instead of 1/3 of my screen being black bars.*

It could be interesting, but I'm not overly confident of anything GGG do these days.
Especially since they sold out. Typically that means things get worse and worse for the players over time in my experience. Can't think of a time where a big buyout ended positively for anyone but shareholders/CEO/etc. https://www.pathofexile.com/shop - Support Path of Exile!

it's going to be awful and on purpose
they don't want poe 2 players to enjoy poe 1 so they're making this bad event to make not like poe 1. |

expect the 19 ascendancies to be protoypes of POE2's that they didn't settle on, or got severely modified from.
they've probably been white boarding different ideas from "let your imagination go wild and we'll whittle it down from there" style brain storming sessions. Its a normal thing to do in design meetings for lots of different companies. Pandering to players who don't want consequences for their mistakes is a perfect description of what went fundamentally wrong with D3 and 4.
If they wanted mindless mobile game time waster gameplay they sure did make some perplexing choices and marketing statements for 6 fucking years. |
