Can anyone recommend a metal band?

I can't believe In Flames , and Dimmu Borgir not been mentioned yet.

He's really into a band called Colour Haze right now.

Between the Buried and Me somehow work for me. Most other 'core' I find to be 'metal for dummies', really.

Colour Haze are amazing.Germany has a tradition at having great psychedelic bands.
I love them !

BTBAM are core-like but are way better musicians than 90% of the technical metal bands
out there.Another amazing band.Alaska and Colours are their best albums.

Have you listened to Procession from Chile ? Amazing Doom Metal.
Got their demo out of curiosity and now I don't own only their last album.

Imo now these two bands are way worse than they were.Especially IF.Dimmu Burger were always
posers and mainstream but had 2-3 great albums.

Hmm reminded me of Moonspell for some reason.

What's missing in previous lists hmm... Behemoth, Gorgoroth, Bathory, Emperor (old one anyway, they turned kinda shit - like most), I'll prob remember more later.
1. Skálmöld - Icelandic Folk/Viking metal. You'll need g-translate to understand the lyrics, as they're all completely in somewhat archaic Icelandic
2. Deadlock - melodic death metal. I really like the combination of the two singers.
3. Blue Stahli - maybe not exactly "metal"... more along the lines of electronic/industrial-(heavier-)rock... Bret likes to switch, mix and match from song to song. Also released some songs for free :)

Other bands I think are worthwhile mentioning:
Spoiler
4. Sólstafir - icelandic metal band. Haven't listened to them in a looooong while. They're on my list of good bands, so I mentioned them.
5. Arkona - Russian Folk/Pagan metal.
6. Leaves' Eyes - Symphonic metal
7. ArchEnemy - melodic death metal.
8. Tiamat - black or doom metal, can't remember. Slow and dark.
9. Deathmøle (or Deathmole) - musical outlet for Jeph Jacques, author of QC webcomic
10. Eluveitie - Swiss Folk/Celtic/Pagan metal. Some of their lyrics are in Gaulish.
11. Xandria - symphonic metal
12. Cradle of Filth - maybe? Not sure if it falls into the "metal" category. Good when I don't want too dark lyrics. ;)

But mostly the first three. :)

Links:
Skálmöld - Upprisa ("Ressurection"; 4th song out of 10 on "Baldur")
Skálmöld - Miðgarðsormur ("Midgard Serpent", 6th song / 10, album "Börn Loka")

Blue Stahli - ULTRAnumb (official music video) (You just gotta watch it. Horror, ridiculousness and implied cannibalism in one package.)
Blue Stahli - Let's Go
Blue Stahli - Scrape (acoustic) (original is MUCH more "metal"/rougher/faster)

Deadlock - Code of Honor (official music video)
Deadlock - Virus Jones (official music video)
Deadlock - Temple of Love

--------
EDIT: How, by the Nine Hells, have I forgotten about HAM and Celldweller!?

HAM - Icelandic metal legends.
Celldweller... is a much more different nut. From industrial metal and trance to, most recently, american-dubstep ("First Person Shooter" comes to mind). Be sure you'll find two-three genres per song... that's why I won't link anything. Just search ;)

Probably 'cause of the voice. hehe

Behemoth are one of those bands that were amazing and turned to mainstream shit.
Gorgoroth are an awesome black metal band.
Bathory is basic metal alphabet :D
Emperor were a great band.I didn't like only their last album. All albums before that
were excellent.
To crit or not to crit ?
OPETH - amazing band and amazed it hasn't been mentioned yet.

and CONTROL DENIED - just 1 f'ing album: The Fragile Art of Existence. R.I.P Schuldiner

Do yourself a favor and listen to old Tarja-Nightwish first, so you get the idea what it used to be. (Although I'm reserving judgement on Floor, she might put them back on track but idk)
