Training grounds (build test area)

I completely agree with GGG's stance on no full respecs for anyone. However, given how commited the skill system is, I think it wouldn't hurt to give players the chance to test builds in a controlled environment.

It would be nice to have an instance (training grounds/dungeon/whatever) in which we are able to fully respec our characters and try different builds. Skill gems / Gear / level and all that aren't modified, just full passive respecs that don't carry over to the rest of the game.

In that instance, there should be dummies or similar to test DPS, or perhaps monsters of any kind that don't provide loot or EXP.

I think this would be very helpful to avoid failed builds from bad theorycrafting and the frustration they might involve.

What do you think?

You mean like ACT 1 normal mode?
POE is a constantly evolving game, so expect balance changes, buffs and nerfs STILL!
Well, no, I mean an area so you can immediately reroll at your current level, so you can test high level builds without having to level up all over again.

I agree with you that there should be some sort of controlled environment, where people could test different character builds. In my opinion, it is pretty obvious that we want to put something in practice before using it.

Maybe after full game release there would be a "test realm" opened for all PoE players, with some features being disabled. (?)

By features I mean PvP content, experience gaining, loot etc.

A league where:
- Only max-socket items drop,
- Rarity is +1000%,
- Gems drop far more often.
- EXP x50
- All waypoints unlocked

I get the point, but that just sounds like an outlet for cheaters.
I think this kind of feature distances itself from the main idea of the game. You washed up on an island. Why would you be able to test builds as you please? Testing grounds should be throughout the game.

This is one of those ideas that sounds really good, but is very unlikely to ever have a place in PoE.

There wouldn't be any impact to decisions if you got to test all possibilities before you decided.

Why not? There wouldn't be any impact if free respecs were available, but informed decisions are decisions anyway.

That "high rates" will ruin this game (even in separate controlled area). Because you would like the speed of exping and godlike items and if you return to "normal" game you will be bored, very bored.

It is similar like cheats in games. My experience is when I start cheating the original game will be boring for me and I will stop playing it.

The testing of builds is the core fun of this game, I hope nothing like this will be implemented.
