5760 x 1080 support
ive been wrong before, but there is no way that is just stretched out.
certainly looks 3 times bigger the view youd get on 1920x1080, i hope so anyway as i dont want to be seeing that much |

In this case you are seeing more of the battlefield then you would normally.
It's worth noting that your game client doesn't get sent info about server side objects until they get close enough to you to get inside your view. This means that even if you could see further to the left and right, objects would suddenly appear at the point when they would normally have entered your view. I was discussing this with Chris earlier and what we will probably do is add black bars on the left and right once the aspect ratio gets wider than 16:9. This is mostly just to stop the player seeing the objects appearing and disappearing suddenly. Path of Exile II - Game Director

" That sounds like a good idea. Otherwise people might get confused at what's going on and might look at the sudden appearing of enemies as a mark against the game. I am a poor freezingly cold soul
So far from where I intended to go |

" It doesn't effect me as I don't have multiple screens set up, but if you have things like character sheet, inventory etc that you can move around, you could move them over these black bar areas on your extra monitors? That would be pretty good I think, but you would have to do something about the interface going all the way left and right, all of that would have to be on the main screen to be useful I think. Probably not worth spending any time on it, based on the tiny number of people who would use it. |

" We use left / right panes for most of the big UI elements (Inventory, Character Sheet, etc). If we add black bars then those things will go as far left / right as they can go, sitting over the black bar area. We would keep the Health / Mana orbs and all the other connected UI elements in the main game area. In terms of wasting time on this; we have to add the black bars to prevent people from being able to see further than others, and due to the way the UI works the rest should just happen naturally as a consequence. So were are talking aspect ratio. And field of view.
max res for this game is 2560x1600. Thats a 16:10. Iff you have a 1920x1080. Thats a 16:9. When this game is build with 16:10 FOV the guys with a 16:9 will have a smaller FOV. I think =) correct me if im wrong. And im not even talking about guys with 4:3. So will people with 16:10 have black bars on the top and bottom. All im saying. Technology is making steps forward. I personally won't mind the black bars on the side. But there could be people that will. |

Hmmz thinking even further then that. You can make some crazy setups.

I like the 3 by 1. 3 screens of content then a task manager up top.
Yes good sir, I enjoy slaying mythical creatures.

" The aspect ratio is not forced to 16:9, that would just be the maximum for width. You would only ever get black bars on the left / right. Path of Exile II - Game Director

Why not just limit the game to only run at 800x600. This way you ensure that people using a 14" CRT 4:3 are equally competitive?
Seriously. While your at it you can create an artificial latency of 500-600 ms. We wouldn't want people playing on dial-up to feel as though they're at a disadvantage. The idea that you're going to create software limitations to circumvent today's technologies so that players using yesterday's hardware feel competitive is ludicrous. |
