(June 23/24) Hardcore Ladder Race

Personally this will only be my 3rd one, so it's all just good fun right now. Besides which my next achievement is to :

1.Stay alive the full 180 mins

2.If I don't to make sure I don't die in pretty much exactly the same god-damned place for the third week in a row:P

So clearly I have a ways to go before I need to worry about prizes lmao.

This thread is awesome, who knew you could BUY iron rings? I was always excited to find them. I remember one time where I fought Merveil with 0% cold resist because I didnt find any... I died =)

You can also randomly buy armor with ~15% cold resist for a couple orbs of transmutation from Tarkleigh, or for an orb of augmentation from Nessa's belts.

This is pretty much why I've stopped participating. Most of the awards are of the "first to rush X" variety, which means the more practiced rushers have an inherent advantage and well tweaked rushing builds. It's simply not fun to blast your way through things at lightning speed hoping you don't get pipped by a few seconds.

Weekend ladder races are basically a way for a small subset of the community to get richer.


I completely agree that we need to spice them up. That's not going to get any development time until Open Beta though, so we will continue to run ones that are supported by the current systems (plus some cut-throat ones) in the meantime.

The eventual plan is to have dozens of different types of races in Open Beta and to run several per day on a schedule :)

Similar to what I suggested, or less exotic?
I'm sure once they have time to look at developing the racing, anything will be possible.

I am possibly the most excited about the races, I know it's hard to hold back thinking about how awesome it's all gonna be once it's developed.

I was lucky to talk with Chris today about the future of races and it's safe to say there is nothing to worry about, all of you will get your fix!
