How to make combat smoother

Why only one step further? :>
Actually I'd like to see some arpg where all skills/abilities could be casted on the run.

WSAD for movement, mapping skills to rmb/lmb and aiming by mouse cursor, space for interactions (conversations, opening chests and so on).
Imagine, that would be something :>

Instead I'm served with another 'groundbraking' and 'genre defining' shit like D3 skills or PoE passive tree instead of something really fresh.

Also some arpg that is not placed in another generic fantasy world.
Some cyberpunk shit or historical fiction whatever.
(it's not actual feedback :P)

I think the point is that a lot of people DON'T want what you're suggesting. Although I certainly could've used more demons and a slightly more refreshing setting, I'm happy with the world of Wraeclast.

I do NOT want WASD movement in this game in the least. And casting skills on the run, by and large, is a bad idea because of the advantages it would give classes that attack from a distance. Things like auras and movement abilities (gap closers like Whirling Blades) could be instant casts while moving, though, as far as I'm concerned.
I have to agree with this. The delay between every animation/attack/skill is quite annoying sometimes.
My only gripe with the combat system thus far is that is is EXTREMELY difficult to target enemies when you are running.

You should be able to click near a monster and it should run you up to the monster and you should start attacking him (In the case of melee), or you should stop running and start shooting the enemy (In the case of ranged). It is a bit annoying when you have to come to a stand still before you target a monster.
One of the reasons combat can feel pretty clunky is that your damage abilities will frequently desynch with the monsters damage animations.

Check 1:55 in this video, and you can also see that I have constant 30 latency the whole time.

Yeah the melee attack needs to be smoother and it should be worked on the shift key issue. It feels clunky at this moment and delay is not affordable.
This may not be what the thread is talking about, and it may have been discussed on another thread (though not any recent ones that I've seen), but my biggest gripe with the combat is that, after engaging in combat with an enemy (melee or ranged), if I click on terrain to disengage and move, the character continues to attack as if I had clicked on the enemy again. And it usually isn't just one attack. Often I have to wait for two or three attacks for them to move, and all the while I'm frantically clicking on terrain desperately trying to get my character to run away. This has caused my characters to die on several occasions (including twice in hardcore) and is probably the most annoying bug the game has right now in my opinion.

I don't think anybody else is having this problem - seems like your mouse button is getting stuck while clicking on your mobs... no reason why you would keep attacking instead of moving...

I complained about combat not being smooth - that was when i was level 20... it smooths out once you get faster attack/cast speed -

Sorry for complaining... this games amazing!

I have seen this "sticky" combat quiet often. It mimics the effects of holding down shift ( I wasn't anywhere near shift or using it before these events happen ). I have to pause a quick second to get it to disengage. I just learned to deal with it as its not happening that often.

I have seen this several times as well.
