PC hard locks extremely rarely

Hello everyone,

I have problem which may be specific to the RX6600/6700 series of AMD graphics cards. More on this later.

Problem:
My entire PC freezes every 20-30 hours of gameplay on average, with nothing noteworthy happening. What happens is that everything stops except the audio, and that stops too after another 5 seconds or so. The last frame rendered on both screens remain there indefinitely, so I don't get a black screen, nor do I blue screen. From then on, everything is completely unresponsive and never recovers regardless of any keyboard input. The fans are still spinning and a lot of heat is being generated (as if the game was running) until I force a shutdown. This started happening after I upgraded from my GTX970 to an RX6750XT.

No other game or activity has caused my system to be unstable since upgrading the graphics card. I have played many extremely demanding games for very prolonged periods of time without the slightest hitch.

I had this problem last league too, I ended up just giving up on playing entirely.

My specs are:
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600X
Graphics card: Asus ROG strix RX6750XT
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 32GB 3600MHz
PSU: Seasonic Core GM 650
Motherboard: MSI B550-A PRO
SSD: Kingston Fury Renegade NVMe 1TB

Pastebin of dxdiag: https://pastebin.com/9HSdEu79

Everything is running stock, other than RAM which is running the XMP profile 1 and CPU which has PBO on. My CPU temps never exceed 70C in PoE as I have a solid aftermarket cooler.

What I've already tried:
* There is nothing relevant whatsoever in Event Viewer
* Stress testing the _entire_ system for prolonged periods of time. Everything is rock stable.
* Countless old driver versions, all installed clean after running DDU
* Checking temps of all components, they're all running very cool under max load
* Updating BIOS to the newest version
* Updating chipset drivers, and all drivers in general
* Disabling MPO
* Disabling FreeSync
* Not having PoB open
* Not having YouTube open
* Running the game in DX11/Vulkan (I'm currently on DX12)
* Countless other things...

Why I think it's an issue specific to the RX6600/6700 series:
I understand that from the symptoms of the problem, this seems like a hardware fault. However, I did not have this issue when I used my GTX970. Furthermore, my wife has an almost identical system, except with an RX6600XT, and she has the exact same issue. I know the issue isn't with the PSU being under-powered, as an RX6600XT (non-OC version) draws much less wattage than my RX6750XT, and she has the same problem.

Neither of us have had our systems freeze for any reason whatsoever, and we've had them for 1.5+ years now and have played very demanding games.

Conclusion
Because the problem only occurs every 20-30 hours on average (sometimes it can take weeks of gameplay), anything I try will take some extensive testing. But please, any suggestions are appreciated. I may have missed some crucial piece of information, so please ask and I'll provide anything that could be useful.

Bump.
Had the exact same problem but more frequently. I'm just linking my post with what solved it for me.
My shader cache was corrupted. This solved it for me:

Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't think I have the option of clearing my shader cache like that because I have an AMD graphics card, but I have cleared my shader cache in the PoE folder. I've also switched to Vulkan and only using a single screen, will update here if I crash again.
Same problem, I have a RX 6600. Tried all the usual stuff with no result. Can run furmark and other gpu-intensive games indefinitely without a problem. This problem does happen very rarely for me in jagged alliance 3 in addition to POE, so I'm pretty sure its not a path of exile problem.
I tried this fix and so far, it seems to work (its from nvidia site but is not manufacturer specific).

Thanks for the response.

Interesting that it also happens in another game for you.

I've already disabled MPO as part of the list of things I've tried, I appreciate the tip though.

I still haven't crashed yet since switching to a single screen, clearing my cache and using Vulkan. This doesn't mean anything though, as the crashes are weeks apart... we'll see!
another update: that fix from nvidia was not the solution...I had disabled vsync at the same time as applying th & had no crashes for a good run. After I re-enabled vsync, I got a new crash within a day...disabled vsync & no crashes since.
I used to have this problem with my old AMD R9 380, and still happens with my new RX 6600 (my cpu is also AMD, R5 2400G)

Just like the op said, it can happen very rarely, in my experience it can happen a lot of times in a day also

Sometimes this Hard-freeze(requires hard reboot) seens to happen during fights, where a "action(s)" is been made. Other times happens on swaping items on ho, or just walking with steelskin on mb1.

Possible relation is the fact i like to play with youtube (+ an overlay to price-check like awakened poe)
A possible solution would be turning off browser acceleration;

Another Band-aid would be try to changing the Networking (Config>Game>1st option) to Predictive;

(For some reason Vulkan takes too much time (+5min) of loading screens and dx11 freezes oftem, so im stuck with dx12)

Experiencing the same problem but more frequently. I have the problem with both directX11 and vulkan. My pc specs are
core i5 9600K
1tb samsung 970 evo ssd
32gb ddr4 3000 Mhz RAM
RTX 2080 with 8GB VRAM

I have tried reinstalling the game, but it still crashes and the performance was also significantly worse before it crashed.
