Z's **0.9.12** LS CI GR! Spec

Up to level 30 now playing this spec. Been running Lightning Strike, Shield Charge and Tempest Shield as my main skills. I'm pretty frail over all, but can do a ton of damage. The biggest problem I am having currently is I am crit shattering everything and not getting loot :(
Hey Tyranthal, great info you have here. I just left D3 and found out about PoE. Just bought myself a key and lurked on the forums for a bit. I'm fresh off the boat! Anyway the Shadow piqued my interest and after some forum reading I'm going to use this to guide me along.

For a completely new player what kind of loot do I want to keep an eye out for? I'm sticking to the dagger/shield and following your passive skill build.

Any other advice for a new player would be greatly appreciated.

You can optimise your tree.

You can take off a 6% Lightning/Fire node early on and place it on a later node for 12% Lightning Damage and 2% casting speed.

Like this.

I'm sure you can move around a few more stuff to min/max even further.
Nice find Slir, I adjusted that point in game & on the passive tree.

I also took away the shield block passives & took the Arcane Focus, Energy Shield * Energy Shield Delay. Its WAY better.. almost embarrassingly so.

I can farm fell/pyramid/60 maps in stripped down quant gear nerfed to hell & still have the 3 elemental auras. Its like having discipline already cast. Im not even using much ES gear & still have bout 1700.

A good MF circlet/mask with mana/es will go a long way. Never running out of mana & 3.66aps is a good balance to losing so much dps for the sake of rarity/quantity.

At level 70 this spec will connect to the Witch 40% Mana Regen starting node. This will yield an additional 8% ES 16% Mana & 40% Mana Regen. All of this means more dps cause you can sacrifice more mana on gear & focus on more dps stats. Plus linking Shadow start to Witch start tree makes it ambidextrous :)

Heya Jason, no shame in leaving d3 for poe. I purchased this Bronze title with rmah money cause it felt unclean.

Anyways look out for daggers with high APS, decent high phys dmg (this is where your mana leech comes from) & both Weapon Elemental Damage % & Cold/Light/Fire dmg % increase.
Get a good shield with evasion or energy shield early on. Shield charge works with a focus but you look like you are attacking mobs with a purse. If it keeps ya alive tho keep using it :P

Jozen survivability & overall peace of mind will be achieved when you get to Chaos Inoculation. You can ditch all HP gear & benefit from the abundance of ES related nodes surrounding you.

Does it really survive well though? I'm playing with a L31 CI Witch and I've taken many more ES nodes (Cooldown and Ammount) and it still feels half squishy, casters being a pain in general.
i too left D3 ( was good while it lasted but meh got old quick after finishing end game ) So i moved onto this and loving it but have some questions about the shadow Class

1. So many say Claw is the best m should i go that way
2. If Claw do i look for Claw + Shield or is Duel Wield viable

i am at level 30 and just cruised along then i realized i cant changed my Skills unless i have orbs , am i stuffed ?

any good tips to play this great class ?

thanks in advance

Shaghar
You'll generally find higher crit chance daggers than you will claws. This is because claws implicit mod is life leech or life on hit. This is totally useless to you once you get Chaos Inoculation. Also, the implicit mod for daggers is increased crit giving you a higher base starting point.

Not only that, but daggers tend to have better base DPS and there are more dagger crit nodes.
Ok Hense Dagger with High Crit and Elemental damage ?

So that turns me to the next question , dual wield or dagger and shield ?

Dont forget Adder's Touch. Its nasty. Its additional dps you totally forget about with a nice 66% crit chance all in one skill. So you have ele prolif, Blaze/Freeze/Shock increasing doing fire dmg, chilled-frozen & Shock amplifying incoming damage... THEN add Adders Touch.. lol. Fire & forget. Adders Touch is for daggers only.

I played a duelist for 71 levels & was DW for 63 of those levels. It didnt stand up. I tried to make DW work but ended up hemorrhaging xp. The resulting 1h+ shield experience was applied to Shadow. Its safe. With that Perandus uni shield that gives 10% block & only 3 shield passives your block is 56%. Then evasion chance.. then ES..
Safe :)

DW with a CI shadow could be insanely OP... idk.. havent tried. At lvl 71 this spec could have all the aforementioned mana/es improvements & then pick up DW Block, Acceleration then 14% DW dmg... I want to try this /grinsss
