How do people get to Level 100? I try since over 5 years stuck at 98...
You could always do it the boring way if you get too frustrated and that is to do a lower tier map, maybe T10 or something that you aren't dying in. It will take you a good amount longer, but rest assured you will get there if you do enough maps....I've done that before, my problem is, I end up getting bored and go back to T16s even if I die here and there.

I have never died on T1-T5 maps, hope this helps.

I am not proud of it, but i get 98-100 during archnemesis doing scoured heist contract. Its more profitable than doing scoured t16 i think, but its more risky though. I Spec my character more defensively like changing wrath aura into discipline, use more movement like changing alberon warpath to seven league steps. In level 99 i think its around 400-600k per heist contract (ilvl 83).
No idea if this viable in sentinel league, since there will be lots of rare monster with archnemesis mods. But i think its still profitable doing scoured heist than scoured map |

" this, don't do the 2 things dork mentioned. " its 2022, map sustain is no longer an issue with the atlas passives. heck, i've hit max stash volcanoes a few time and even resorted to running them magic or even plain vanilla in an effort to clear my overabundance. i havent hit 100, but i m currently 99. what i do is i favourite volcano and dunes and bounce between these 2 maps with atlas passives tailored to get more maps. i have been on a badluck streak with my internet connection recently, but before that i was at 40% xp to 100. using this tactic. also, i actively skip delirium, metamorph, vaal areas and dangerous altar options. if i see any porcupines, i exit map. heck i ve also stopped using sextants. i m currently waiting for the next patch, theres a passive that reduces monster damage but increases their life. i plan to grab that. currently i m at 3%, i reckon on first-second day of the new patch its gonna drop to 0 since i wanna f around testing things. after that i think i ll be set back up to get to 100. its not difficult just extremely tedious. even then comparatively its not that bad. if you've played asian MMOs... those are bad. don't die (make a tanky build) and do maps with lots of mobs in them
or do 5-ways. very easy |

Me too, never have a lv100 charecter, but I think I finally find a way to do maps by myself to get lv100,I'm lv99 with 66% exp right now.
First,I think that dying in this game(softcore)is inevitable, espetially when you want more efficiency in leveling, like doing high exp maps. So,you can't rely on deathlessness in leveling, but to focus on increasing exp per map,in this case, even if you die, you'll complement the exp loss quickly. It need you to use compasses, scarbs to increase the monster pack size and rarety. For me,I use beyond/ritual atlars/legion/unique monster drop corrupted item(with boyond mod, this can provide you so many 6-links equipments, the most important ex source) compasses with rusted harbinger/legion/breach scarbs, the related atlas points need to be allocated as much as you can. Second, you need to make your maps item quantity 40%+/item rarety 80%+,this is to give you more monster pack size.Basing on your build, chose the doable mods. Third,do not allocate any strongbox point, cuz I think it is the most dangeous mods(ice nova, corpes explode, freeze),especially when your maps contain a lot of monsters and you can't see anything clearly. Finally, find a build that can do these maps safely(which may mean that 1 death most in 10 maps). With all these steps above, a map can give 3%exp at lv98/1.5%exp at lv99. |

I couldn't resist commenting on this post when I saw it, since I had the same problem when I started playing this game a few years back. Let me start by saying that I'm an average PoE player at best. There are thousands of players who are more skilled than I am and who probably have better leveling strategies than mine. That said, this strategy has worked for me for the past 3 leagues that I have played. In Archnemesis it took me about 3 weeks to level to 100 and I finished around 2300-2400 on the ladder. It takes discipline and patience and a fairly tanky build but not all that much game knowledge/skill. The strategy has 3 phases:
1) Level 1-97 (mapping) 2) Level 97-99 (Heist) 3) Level 99-100 (Delve) For phase 1, spec into heist and some other low-risk mechanics that you enjoy (in addition to the normal map-sustain nodes). Stick to stuff that will generate some currency to help you gear your character without getting you killed or slowing you down. I like stuff like strongboxes and harbinger. You want to run your maps quickly and safely, so don't juice them too much and skip mechanics that slow you down. You can also run low-level heist contracts during this phase as you are leveling but save the level 80+ contracts for phase 2. Also, run your Niko missions and try to get your delve upgrades (resistance and light radius/flare radius) maxed out down to about level 200 or so and get your sulphite capacity up to 30,000. By the time you hit level 97 you should have a ton of heist contracts. Run all your garbage contracts here. Don't spend too much time looting -- pick up anything really valuable but concentrate on farming XP as quickly as possible. Also, save the good contracts and blueprints for after you've leveled and can safely juice them. Also, you can run unique contracts but I recommend skipping the boss fights unless you are really confident you can do them without dying. Hopefully you will have enough heist contracts to get all the way to level 99. For the 99 to 100 push, I like the delve mine. Buy a bunch of sulphite scarabs (gilded are usually the most efficient choice but it depends on the league economy) and fill up on sulphite then hit the mine and delve horizontally at the deepest depth at which you feel safe. For me it's usually around 180 or so. Watch the mods and delve around anything that makes you nervous. Stick to the azurite nodes as much as possible -- they give pretty good XP, they pretty much guarantee 100% flask uptime and you can use excess azurite to buy resonators from Niko, which you can then sell to help sustain your sulphite scarabs. When you run out of sulphite, rinse and repeat. That's pretty much it. A few more tips: Apply influence to every map if you can handle it. Last league I had like a dozen Searing Exarch invitations by the time I hit level 100 and I had no deaths in maps from 99-100 (my only RIP was in the mines, and it was because I was watching Netflix instead of my monitor). Have some fun stuff planned for each time you level up past 90. Have an invitation or 2 or a Sirus encounter or some juiced blueprints, etc. Each time you level, relax and have some fun before you start the grind to the next level. Allocate most of your resources to survivability. You need enough damage to kill the monsters in the delve mine and in T16 rare maps efficiently but not a whole lot more. You can always spec into more damage after you hit level 100. Don't spend a lot of time gearing your heist followers while you are XP farming. You can get perfect rolls on their gear later when you're running good contracts for currency. I always plan things so that my very last passive point is allocated to a jewel socket and I always have a few exalts tucked away to go jewel shopping after hitting 100. Above all, remember that you don't have to get to level 100. If you're not having fun then it's just not worth it. I've heard several well-known PoE streamers say that they've never had a level 100 character, and those guys are much better players than I am. Hope this helps someone! |

You said no to delve, but I would suggest that for the last levels as the safest option.
It is a slow but steady and totally safe leveling method; 15-18M xp/h on 98, 10-13M xp/h on 99. I made my first 100 in HC this league, and did Niko mapping and delving from level 96. I ran carefully rolled (no regen, no crit, no reduced armour, etc, always depends on the build) 60-95% quantity T16 strands and ran them all with delve scarabs or atlas missions. Filled the 65k tank in 10-18 maps (depending on their quantity and scarab type) then went delving. I was delving sideways on depth 155 +/- 10, as area level 83 starts on 145. The only dangerous thing to look for here are the exploding monsters in the azurite nodes. All-time non-streamer luckless dropless rewardless tons-of-time-playing non-TFT-er 100% solo player.
So, it just turns out, we were lied to for years with the promises of a two-storied one PoE 4.0. All these worse and worse beta leagues, all these braindead changes, all lead to this. |
