There is surely a point where you get punished for being too high level.
Docks is lvl 62 when i believe the map tooltip so being over 72 gives malus on drops or where does it start?

You'll never be considered being above level 68 when loot is concerned (XP is a different matter) - stay at docks until you feel safe entering maps, one way or another.
The way I read it is it only affects currency....not items (Rare/unique)
So if you are level 30 in a level 20 area, you will see 20% less currency item drops on average:

Increased Item Rarity % modifiers increase the chances of an item being magic, rare, or unique. For example with a total of +100% increased item rarity, you'd get twice as many magic items, twice as many rares and twice as many uniques from normal enemies.

Do you guys with shav use alot of life regen items? Cause i can't keep RF on at all even with vitality, my ES runs down very fast with max fireresist.
How much life do you run with with RF on, and which auras exactly ? and which on bloodmagic?
try to lower your maximum life as possible. Higher ES is better so your regen will also increase. you can put vitality and discipline on bloodmagic, clarity and purity at reduced mana. In my case, I use vitality, purity and haste on bloodmagic with reduced mana. I don't have any life regen mods on items. just the 1.0% at passive and vitality aura with inner force. Just try to reach 4k+ ES and you will be able to sustain RF. atm try to use springleaf on secondary to regen your ES then switch again to your main shield whenever you want to do higher dps.
Well then I dont assume u use lvl 20 dicsipline or what? cause mine is lvl 16 and takes 195 mana atm with reduce, which puts me at about 35% life, which means i can't run vitality at the same time. I can run haste and purity and clarity on mana though.
Vitality atm @lvl11 with lvl 13 reduce mana and 13 blood magic takes 66% life reserved.

Maybe because your gem levels are not yet high enough. I suggest you replace haste with vitality atm but if your mana can sustain running both then its fine. At lvl 18+ reduced mana, you will be able to run 2 auras on each. I only have lvl 19 discipline and clarity lvl 11 (not leveling it up) linked with reduced mana and 3 % reserved auras (haste, vitality, purity) at bloodmagic using the unique BM robe The Covenant(No increase mana multiplier unlike BM gem) which brings me down to 20% life. Try to use % auras on hp instead of mana.

The mask adds 100% increased mana use though, doesnt it? So it will be 200%, almost the same as my blood magic gem (not used, I got the covenant) that has 205% cost? Havent owned the mask myself, so I cant say.
100% increased mana cost of skills, but it does not increase mana reserved.

Ya but i cant use covenant robe when i use shavronne?
I tried casting teh auras with covenant and switching to shav, and i lose the auras, so not much point in it :D

Nope, the auras won't be deactivated if you switch from covenant to shavronne unless you put your aura gems inside it. Just make sure you don't place your gems inside the covenant. The blood magic mod will still affect your gems even if they are placed at any part. (eg. boots, gloves, helm)
