[Retracted] WASD Movement
I don't think that WASD is needed, personally I love the isometric view and its controls

All they have to do is give an option to use it for char movement, and then move the hotkeys (which you can remap anyway) for the stuff that was to be called from pressing qwert...
This would not be a hard thing to program in and if YOU dont want to use, dont use it. I really don't see why people in here have to whine about a small amount of work going to give people more options. just because YOU don't like it doesnt mean it is inherently crap. Its not like you STOP moving with the mouse; the option, once selected, just add's WASD and the mouse remains the same. Ive used some hacks that worked this way with other games, and I liked. I used the mouse a lot, but I sometimes used WASD for movement when I felt like I wanted or needed to. Last edited by BINARYGOD#2440 on Aug 17, 2011, 3:28:02 PM

I think it should be an option, as I have played the game, this would allow these people that want it to see the reality of this type of game and understand that they can't do anything you are supposed to in PoE with WASD... wait until you play it if you want this "control" scheme, YOU WILL DIE... A LOT!
I love virtual brutality so save it for the Mobs...

To everyone hurring down WASD controls:
It is not that hard to implement (though I don't know how their systems work, but I doubt anything aboriginal here) and it doesn't need the camera to be changed at all to work. If you lose your fingers on the keys, sorry, but you are unskilled in this control scheme. When I started LoL I missed my fingers in the 4-4 scheme too, because I wasn't used to it. Many games use WASD succesfully, and for some strange reason players manage in it. There are plenty keys around WASD to use, not necessary as much as the 5-5, but manageable. And you can have much more you can actually use with modifier keys. The main (and maybe only?) benefit of WASD is that it separates movement and aim completely, reducing the mouse overload some people mentioned before. On the other hand, this sort of mobility won't bring gamebreaking changes either, since the game is not build around twich movement. I for one prefer WASD movement, but there have been cases where I found the oldschool mouse one more confortable, since the game didn't demand that kind of input. I'd still like to have it implemented, since it might end up important in more competitive play. |

I sincerely hope WASD does not get put in the game.
Ive played a couple ARPG's which have it and it feels awkward and wrong. Where did you even get the idea WASD adds "immersion" in a game like this where mouse movement has always been one of the key fundementals of the game type? |

" I agree somewhat with this, although on the other hand perhaps WASD could be 'optional' as a control scheme. That being said,I wouldn't be fussed if the game didn't have WASD so long as the mouse controls operated smoothly; I've played several games like this where the mouse controls didn't work as smoothly either. |

" When a control scheme is more comfortable, you think less about the controls and more about the in-game world. |

" Yeah, except playing with WASD is far less comfortable than using your mouse alone and your left hand to activate skills and potions. Joined Closed Beta 20th August 2011
