Anyone have a build that can melee hardcore Maelstrom of Chaos without Kaom's?

Sorry, I get what you mean now. 90% DR is pretty huge, that is slightly more than I have with charges up (4 charges atm). Can you run Enfeeble? That will allow your 90% DR to work well (mobs do less damage so more of your DR counts).

That would be my plan, high DR with Enfeeble, and add more life when it is possible.

Yeah I could give that a try, in merciless nothing hits me hard enough in melee to matter. im level 57, so the next 10 levels will be slow grind prepping for merciless. Also figure my 90% will be much less later on at higher levels, and might need 3 stacks of endurance at all times for chaos. I just dunno how to get my hp high enough, tried temporal chains out and the slowing effect reduced mob damage output nicely as well.

Enfeeble is better than temporal chains. Enfeeble reduces the mobs damage pet hit, which therefore increases your DR also, so you get a double effect.

DR is showing incorrect in chaos atm
you do not have 90% in chaos, this will be adjusted in 9.10 patch.

Try linking Enfeeble (or any curse) with Totem & Increased Area of Effect supports. Hands free cursing is win :)

Yeah, i can only use a really low level enfeeble, and will likely link it to totem. My bow user is using a totem linked to a curse, much more efficient. Curse can be low level, doesn't need extra aoe, cause the totem spams the skill on everything.

Using Duel wielding insane duelist in Hardcore :) good HP not bad DPS only problem is to find high Physic damage fast swords :) well i just love how rapiers look :)

You can stack hp and survive in chaos. But it sucks because you will have a harder time running all the auras needed to have high damage.

Not to mention you will need tons of hp on gear and from skills, Making it harder to get the damage you need.

But if you combine catalyze and hp and regen skills, and for the most part avoid getting hit using LS you can survive.

I'm in chaos with over 4k hp, and wouldn't really want to go in with less than that, if I try to melee my kill speed is slow. If I use a bow my kill speed is still fairly slow. Been alchemy orbing reaver swords i pick up as I go, once I find a good one will try again.

Its just so hard for melee to balance dps vs defense. A CI user can easily get enough passives for decent ES, main focus is high ES gear, elemental damage, and resists. Little easier to keep damage high, especially with the extra int for multiple auras.
