The Easiest of the Easy Beginner Build Guides [1.1 SotV UPDATED]

Would also like to know if this build is endgame/solo viable still after release :)
Just updated for the 1.0.0 passive tree!

http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgIBr-ubjQgu7YMZjgBe0359df66u-PEopcGBfktgxmK-wn22hqPGwEZ_v7Io4qbJjIBshnPeu967g4j9u_wWkhW-vzFZ6CHdkp93Q2QCluvTioppbZBapPV7cAP0k2-p-pizZjexkMxG8heE4TvdO1672BLBS1AoJ65YSEaVWSjNug6UjJ-Aeefy6cwFHFBqt-_Jbz46_cycql82ayqJ-0ZLtSPud3yL-8O51JUSV8_9kiMz1BQWGPG2BXwOlgEfocZ974UIFBH890=

It turned out really nicely, I'd say overall it has been buffed. It should also be quite viable to switch out Lightning Arrow for Ice Shot now as well if you like.

Weapon should prioritize physical damage more now in this spec.

It looks very, very tanky and sustain heavy, which is nice.... But does it really have enough damage to solo in endgame? It has like.... Zero dmg or ele nodes for LA as far as I can see. If it can its awesome, but... Can it?

If so very nice guide <3

Just the new release build has next to no damage nodes or ways for LA to actually shock enemies like the old one did. Really worried about the dmg output, or the lack there of later on. Also Berserking, huge 15% IAS node is gone, which alone is a huuuge nerf in dps.

Old build was rougly something like 65-70% tank and 30-35% dmg. New one is 80-85% tank and 15-20% dmg. No ele dmg nodes to buff LA and no static blows for the ability to shock targets (LA's huge advantage) really seems too tanky and not enough damagey (is that even a word?) IMHO.

Would love your feedback/reasoning/thoughts on this Ziggy :)

This time around we opted for a few powerful physical damage buffs and we'll profit from that through elemental conversions like added fire and hatred + weapon elemental damage. Most of your damage ends up coming from weapons, gear and your skill/support setup. It'll have more than enough damage from those alone and the few damage passives we go for are just icing.

And yeah, I don't plan for the chance to shock passives now because long term endgame for a build like this is now to go for a Lioneye's Glare. Most players playing the build wont go for that though - this is a beginner oriented build designed to see them through the game and well into endgame maps. I think most players will eventually want to reroll a more complex build after using this one to become more familiar and confident with the game (which was the main goal!). People that do fall in love with the tanky archer playstyle will be able to slowly work their way towards a lioneyes and their damage will shoot up when they get it.

Thanks for the reply. Currently lvl 29 in shite gear and doing OK'ish.

I've made my take on the build getting the templar passives near it's start and gotten Static Blows back into it.http://www.pathofexile.com/passive-skill-tree/AAAAAgIBAF4CcQSzBS0ILg48FCAUTRRxGS4Zjho4GlUbyB0UJbwn7SkuKaUyfjKJNug26TpSPfxAoEGqQzFKfU4qUEdQUFRJVcZX4lhjWfNbr14TXz9gS2EhZKNmnmegZ71yqXTtd-V463rvfLh82X11hO-HdozPj0aQVZuNm6GeuaIApzCnhKfUrKqv67ZBud2748AaxKLG2M9l0NDTftSP3BXcgt0N37_jaucK51LsOO2D7m_vDu968B_yL_ZI9zL3vvjr-tL8xf66_sg=

Looks OK to me IMO(spot anything wrong/unoptimal?). But still not completely sure if I'm going with that or if I'm sticking with your build though. Your build does seem really solid for being on the more heavy phys dmg side.
I got a little impatient and instead of waiting for the updated skill tree, I decided to do some educated guesses as to what the 1.0 tree would look like.

I wasn't *too* far off, I'm happy to say :D

I'm wondering though if my less-efficient path will have lasting ramifications, or if I should be okay in Merciless and endgame?

Also, running even one aura seems to be ridiculously difficult. Do you still recommend one, or would it be better to forgo them entirely?

Lastly, my current two main skills are Rain of Arrows and Frenzy, linked together in a 4L Death's Harp with Faster Attacks/Faster Projectiles. I have 2% life leech on my gloves and +2 lifegain on hit on a ring. Would it be wise to leave those skills slotted as-is or attempt to link one of them to a life gain on hit gem?

Thanks for this guide, it's really helped turn my previously mediocre Ranger around.
Hello and thanks for this guide.
I think I'll give it a try, since I haven't respeced my Ranger yet.

You write, it's probably better to use Ice Shot instead of Lightning Arrow - as I really like Ice shot (reminds me of my Frozen Arrow Amazon in Diablo 2 ^^), I think I'll stick with it.
Would you recommend to spend 1 passive point for "Ice Bite"? Or is this skill rather worthless?

Greetings from Germany
So far using this build, Level 17+. Everything going smooth as butter. And for that, thank you. Could never find a beginner build, that i found was my play style. This one so far is the most fun out of the others i had try. Hope to reach the end, and Have a nice day.

Hi, what do you think about leaving the warrior beginner section and going to path of the warrior and sentinel? Would it be good to skill both sections?:

your way:
- 16 points
- 60 strength
- 2% max fire res
- 2% max cold res
- 2% max lightning res
- 12% to all ele res
- 30 life
- 30% reduced extra damage from critical hits
- 1,9% life reg
- 38% life

against Passive skill tree build:
- 17 points
- 70 strengths
- 24% evasion and armor
- 10% all res
- 82% life
- 12% increased physical damage

Why do you take heart of oak if you have unwafering stance? Is it just for the beginning? But what to spec instead?

Good work on the guide again. :)

Will you also post it on the steam community hub for PoE?
There is a dedicated section for Guides.
