Chrome Extension to detect recipes in your inventory
Interesting. Not sure what you can do. Can you read and save everything we can see right now?
If thats true than finding recipes is obviously only the first step. After the open beta began we will have access to any number of accounts we want. An extension like this one will be able to organize our stash tabs accross multiple accounts quite easily. We don't have to organize them in game anymore. However i'am not sure if GGG likes to lose that much control over it's own game. Imagine a third party AH, supported by this extension. What about a giant database where every player can offer every item they want, searchable. Last edited by overpowdered#4125 on Apr 30, 2012, 2:39:46 PM

This is awesome work. Someone should indeed get this man a case of beers!
Is there a way to get it to check all char's inventories in a League instead of an individual? I see that as the hoarder's next logical step. |

" It would be trivial to do, but I don't think it would actually make sense in the context of the intended workflow. I don't want to have to log in to each char that's part of a combination. I want to receive notifications about new combinations I can make with the current char. But you may have a scenario I'm not picturing. Can you explain why you want to check all char inventories? "The extension can see one account's inventory -- the account of whoever is logged in to pathofexile.com. It cannot manage it, at least not given the site's current capabilities. In general, it's possible to scrape multiple accounts, but given the security context of Chrome, I imagine I'd have to have another user agent for each account. The reason I wrote the extension in Chrome in the first place was so that I could re-use the existing user agent, and I don't have the patience to create extra user agents or manage the login credentials. So it's unlikely this extension will ever gain multi-account capabilities. |

" You can't move stash items around in a browser, so you'll still have to dig for them in-game. Character archive: view-thread/963707 HC: 96 RIP SC: 95 97 96 100 95 96 97 98 95 97 Necro Settlers: WIP Last edited by unsane#5479 on Apr 30, 2012, 3:08:27 PM

"Btw, that is some pretty big thinking. Impressive. We could at least match users who want to trade like this, even though I cannot execute the trades given the site's current capabilities. But it's not likely for me to be the one who will write it, because I will be playing Diablo 3. That said, if you or anyone else wants to contribute code that would implement this behavior, I'm happy to review it. |

Confirmed that it works now :D Thanks heaps!

" In addition to using stash tabs, people may be using mule characters. I understand the searching for new recipes, but if someone has 6+ chars in Normal just holding items for recipes the extension could easily factor them in. I personally only have 2, holding items I want to keep, but I have talked with some people who have quite a lot of mules for rares, etc. |

I have a c# application that does something similar. It only looks for Rares with matching names (sets of 2 for Alchemy orbs and sets of 3 for Regals). I have it populate an online database for me (available anywhere I have internet access).
It semi-automatically populates, I have to manually download the inventory/stash pages for each user, but that only takes a few seconds. Wish I could figure out how to authenticate a user so I could automate the logging in/downloading part... Anyone need any Regals? I may have a few extra... This is pretty excellent, however I don't use chrome personally.
Would it take alot of work to make a Firefox addon? |
|
I won't. It would take a ton of extra work relative to the payoff. FAQ updated with the answer to this question.
