Unofficial Path of Exile Mac Client - Download - v.2 Released
@julus ... I had a version of the wrapper which showed the glitches alawas in the zone to the west of the act 2 town. So I could experiment. With "--nosound" it was working (don't ask) with "-gc 1" too. At that state I used many different machines, many versions of direct x libraries. Changed glut and wrapper and whatever. Still the same. I believe it is simply a client bug regarding low memory situations. Maybe it is even a direct x bug as I saw problems like that with other games while browsing Google for the symptoms.

Bit of a success story here. MBP 9600 512mb 8gb ram 10.8 osx. I am using wineskin 2.5.6 and engine WS8Wine 1.4 and running the" --nosound" flag. I am not using any "-gc x" flags. The game runs very well for me with only 2 crashes in the last week, not counting server crashes, which are also rare. Initial load still takes a bit, but loading between instances is quick. I have played for up to 4 hours at one time with no glitches or crashes. Haven't seen any graphical glitches after changing to wineskin 2.5.6 from 2.5.5 and using "--nosound". I don't mind having no sound as music is usually going anyway, but it may be a deal breaker for others. After patch 0.9.11 and before I changed to 2.5.6 and "--nosound" I could rarely enter any Act 2 instance except the Forest Encampment without CTD. If I did get to enter, there were graphical glitches everywhere, similar to many reports above. I was researching bootcamp options when julus came in with his wrapper (thanks so much!) and got me to do a bit of experimenting to see what works on my machine. I currently have a shadow who beat Merveil in Cruel difficulty and a duelist who just got into Cruel. For me it seems I had to find the right combination of wrapper, engine, flag(s) to fit my setup?

" I`m using wrapper 2.5.5. I got an i7 8ram 1gb video card. |

" You are using the OP's wrapper. If you don't know how to tune up the wrapper, follow my link in the signature and use the wrapper from that post, it should add few hours and reduces crashes significantly. |

Well, I am aware that --nosound also helps to improve the stability, but that is not a good way to fix things.
As far from the reports I can only say, we currently can only delay the issues and crashes for small drawback (loading times), but it's a game bug. We need to wait for developers to actually improve the things, and they will. Remember, this is beta, there will be bugs :) Also I will be making the port from scratch as there are things that don't belong there (why the hell is there glut and samba installed ???), and I don't have full control of this port (I just tuned it up, I didn't made it, so I don't know what things were done here). Also I want to try some older engines, as some are proven to work better in some scenarios. |

It was a pain to get it working without sound crashes in act 2 for me. Actually I did not succeed with a wrapper from scratch earlier :/

i played in about a hour, and now i can't open the game

When i press the "path of exile.app" it won't load the game, it goes to the launcher and then it loads forever.
i have deleted everything on my computer that is path of exile and wine related, and installed the game from scratch 2 times. but the game won't work. Last edited by BjornenSjover#1751 on Aug 11, 2012, 10:08:52 PM

I couldn't get julus' wrapper to work at all. With the engine in it the game wouldn't even load. It kept giving me some graphical loading error, but I didn't bother to save it, sorry. Changing the engine to the most recent allowed me to load the game, but it would start with a super tiny resolution, maybe 800x800 pixels. There weren't any options in the resolution settings that matched the mouse's offset. So, I'm back to the OP's wrapper, and updating WINE to the latest, but leaving his engine and using "-gc 1" is allowing me to play non stop without any graphical glitches and very few crashes. However, it's pretty laggy.. any time a new spell comes on the screen it freezes for a second. I'm on a 2011 13" Macbook Pro with 8 GB RAM.
