(UPDATED with Prizes!) Weekend Cut-throat Event
The freeze mechanic is a bit too strong in a group pvp setting, you can literally keep someone frozen 100%-0%, even with flasks of thawing, for the last league I used a lot of "remove frozen" and "movement speed" flasks and while the witch did little to no damage themselves to me, they make it impossible to move while the rest of the group just gets free attacks at you. Maybe some kind of diminishing returns or flasks of thawings if used while frozen not just removing the current frozen but making you immune to freeze for say 5sec.
As a solo player groups weren't really an issue til about lvl 9-10, I won quite a few 1v2s, 1v3s and 2 1v4s of near equal level (+1/-1) (They didn't have frost spam witches or I got the jump on them and managed to kill the witch quickly) Winner of the First Ever Cut-Throat Server Test, and Winner of the First Ever Cut-Throat League Event!

I maked ranger with my friend, also ranger, for this event early time it was funny. Dindnt gank lowlvl ppl but some times we had invasions to our instance. After lvl 10 we was wondered to see lvl 16 marauder and 14 lvl ranger near entrace of new genered instance that zonned in before us. Marauder kill my character with only 2 ground slams, 3 times tryed return to zone for get back some droped items, instance dscription sayed thaе no players in zone but was ganked 3 times again in entrace. After that my friend goes sleep and i continued event solo. Tryed get some gear in zones cleared by other players, but all time was ganked by 1shots from ppl who have fun to kill naked characters.
For self i maked only 1 finding. I will never play cut throat again while it have fulldrop on death, cause its not Ultima or Darkfall where gear is consumable and easy to get, and u have 10-15 same sets of equipment in stash and can return for revenge if ganked. My suggest, remove drop of equiped items and make safe zones near waypoints and entraces. |

You got to lvl 10 with out a single extra set of gear? I had at the very least 4-5 full sets by lvl 7. The gear is there and very readily available people just don't stop to pick it til after they are dead and realize they have nothing. Consider this a learning experience.

Actually: Instead of having a scaled up damage I would prefer the first levels to be very easily surviveable and then the pvp pickup later. It would come a long way avoiding the "Mud Flats Graveyard" and it would make the leveling-skills a lot more important for the pvp'ers, thus making the difference between pvp'ers and pve'ers smaller in terms of level-gap.
A lot of very good feedback in this thread generally. In terms of the abuse of spamming new instances I suggest only showing non-empty instances on the list for other player and not necessarily the number of players in the instance. Would make it a waste to create so many empty instances and make it harder to just hunt for pure pvp-purpose. Giving more xp from killing players in general and a lot more scaling with level would be very good for making the experience-race and pvp less of "2 simultaneous competitions that happens to happen on the same server". All in all I think the concept has so many very good features and a lot of potential no matter how it is twisted. I really look foreward to future tests of this kind. I appear to be living in "Romance Standard Time". That has to be good! :) Last edited by radiatoren#0601 on Apr 22, 2012, 2:01:35 PM

" I had like 4 or 5 sets of gear, but lvl 10 is new tier of items so i had only 1 lvl 10 bow, was ganked instantly after zonning, clicked on waypoint and it says no players in zone, returned here with crap 1-7lvl gear and meet again this 16 lvl marauder tryed fight but hited him only for 1-5% hp that was instantly regened by flasks while he needed only 1-2 ground slams for kill me. |

I wasn't able to participate in any of the cut-throat events, but is it true that high level characters can prey upon characters with much lower level? If yes, this would be really annoying. When someone invades your instance you should be able to defeat that person.

I feel defense starts to completely outscale damage output around lvl ~8, like aside from a frost witch I could literally run right though anyone and just walk out the nearest area portal or wp and at the same time I could spam a half dozens arrows into someone and they would just take a sip or two of flasks and walk away. So I think it's going to become almost mandatory for every class to pick up a ranged slow spell like cold snap to keep people in place so you can do some damage to them to keep them from just simply walking away.

" I do not think that is general for all types of defence. Armour and hp sure does, while energy shield is a bit more spiffy. Evasion is a slot-machine as some of the other rangers in this thread seems to have experienced. I appear to be living in "Romance Standard Time". That has to be good! :)

Yea I went HP/armor for my ranger, too many random deaths in HC to trust evasion ever again.
Again I meant about battles between equal levels, of course the lvl 16 marauder is going to 1shot your half naked lvl 10 ranger. I'm completely with fine with that as is. I did not get to participate in this event but I'll throw in what I think cutthroat needs from my previous experiences.
A level buffer so you cannot be attacked until you are lvl 5 in races or lvl 10 in permanent cutthroat leagues. A safe zone for players to gather items without the fear of getting nk'd again and again. Terraces for competitions and all the way up to Ledge for permanent cutthroat leagues. A 5 second timer to hostility & a warning sound if someone leaves your party. Immunity until your first character command upon switching zones. This will help people with SLOW computers. I kinda wish they kept the timer for trying to switch zones. Seems like without this its too easy to run or exit game at any sign of trouble. This will also keep players from alt+tabbing out to keep form dieing. I liked the indication of the persons name entering zone. Lets you do a quick /whois and give you that fight or flight chance.
