What is GGG's official stance on multi-clienting/dual boxing?

Every Diablo game up to now, has taken a stance of never saying its ok but never banning anyone for doing it. Infact I've never heard of anyone getting banned from any game for dual clienting (except for things like poker).

Realm of the Mad God had a problem with this, and players did get temp banned for doing it. The difference there was that each individual player who struck a monster (enough times) got an individual chance at loot. Using multiple accounts to hit that threshold made for multiple chances to get high-level loot, and became an exploitative form of farming. In this game, I could see similar exploits being done on bosses. However, as the real end game to this is Maps, I have absolutely no worries about the end game being crowded with this, *unless* the maps *themselves* become the base currency item, which is possible.

EDIT: Sorry about the thread necromancy. I got linked here by another thread. I just happened to see this comment while linked here and forgot it's from months ago. Ignore this.

Mods, is it possible to merge this thread with the other one?

I had a temporary ban issue one time with D2. My wife and I both have a copy of the game and I was busy trading some EQ back and forth between our two account. Apparently, I logged in and out too many times with in a given time and had either a 15 minute or a 30 minute log in ban. The error message from Battle.net was not clear, so I sent an email to support. By the time I got my answer, I was already able to log back into the game.
Looks like someone missed their weekly meeting of Douchebag's Anonymous.

This is my situation:
I have a new PC with 8 gigabyte of RAM.
Each PoE Client eats up 900 megabyte.
So i can run 6 Clients easily.

I would like to Multi-box with 3rd party software that clones my mouse/keyboard actions to the other clients.

I too would like an *official* stance on this.
As i would like to run a 6 character farm team to get better XP and Loot.

The moment you say 'third party' you should be aware that devs don't react well to those words typically...
If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I am Path of Exile's biggest whale. Period.
I can tell you this.

Multi loading so far seems ok

Multi boxing on the other hand is a different beast. As it requires 3rd party software. Well have to wait and see

Btw, some map mods, burning ground for example, seem to send all graphical "stress" to the CPU. When multi loading with 4 alts, it was pretty much unplayable. This was with all screens as small as they could go, minimized, and all graphical options set on lowest possible.

Got to it before me. Lol

Pretty much ^
Seems pretty hard to me to multibox 6 characters in a game, where you can be one shooted.Or I am not getting what you are saying.

In this case:
ISBoxer is my choice of software.
Im still playing the game, just the cloning of keys and such is done through ISBoxer.
Many games allow this, as its still the player doing the actions (No botting or automation involved to *make the game play itself*).
If i leave my PC my 6 chars will do nothing at all because Multi boxing is simply multiplied output of human action.
Just look at WoW and how it handles it! Eve online too! :)

ISBoxer also features picture in picture options so i can also see my Alts HP/ES/MP and such.

Well ill try to use as much Alts as possible at the same time (up to 6), and balance the CPU load accordingly to how much my PC can cope with the stress.

I don't think you quite get how it works or what his point was. It won't make a difference if you can see the HP of your alts. To keep them close enough to your main character to get the xp bonus without dying, they need to be independently controlled, simply following the movements of your main won't cut it (and it's not like no one has tried).

For that reason, I would be very surprised if anyone cared about you trying to use it, it's futile.

It used to be that the characters didn't need to stick close together to get the xp, but it has basically been solved now.

Eh? Not sure who you think you're kidding with that statement. It copies your initial input and automatically replicates the same inputs over to the other clients. Don't know if you've ever worked with bots before, but to say that isn't a form of automation is nonsensical.

As I said, I think they will probably let you use it, but only because its pointless, not because of any technicalities.
