ALF + F4 Exploit ?

Aw ....
Are not devs trying to be client-oriented?

Well, so we should draw attention
(attention, i need beta key :D )

There is close event in windows apps.
While process is closed by any "normal" way(task bar, alt+f4, task manager(first tab, with close, not kill in second tab)) this event will be called and command can be passed to server before closing it.

Process kil (second tab of task manager) will not fire that event. As i said, there is ways to override. Cheater can always reboot his pc :D
But anyway, this will cut away just a lots of cheaters.

Like i purposed if you count how many times a player crashed a client and add a timer depending of this number ... it will make cheaters to limit a lot this attitude and bad connection accidental crashes not to loose their char.

But i think we all agree something should be made ;)
We must think too at the instant town portal summoning.

On this case a timer MUST be added on portal town summoning.

Even the best pc on the best connection is still vulnerable to lightning strikes/meteors/dinosaur attacks, and we don't want Hardcore players to loose their characters because of a short interruption like that.

Also, it's not the hardware that makes the player hardcore, it's the player! Some of our best testers and top hardcore players have below average gear, or are playing from a location with sub-optimum internet, because that's all they have available to them. They have a higher risk of loosing a character to a disconnection, but they're okay with that, and they're still some of the best :D

While I agree with you that the hardware doesn't make the player and i'm sure some great gamers come from rural areas or developing nations I am sticking with the fact that you chose to call this mode "Hardcore". If something happens to you when you are competing in anything, whether it be gaming online, race car driving and/or a sport and you have an equipment failure is it everyone else's fault? Should we stop everyone and start over? No. You had bad luck, you fail, better luck next time. It would suck but that's why its called hardcore.

I just don't know how to make it fair without adding a discon timer of some sort. Perhaps if the server knew "why" they logged off/dc then you could. But I believe that's impossible... You can't make your server tell the difference between power failure on someone's street and a plug pull... or can you? lol

And what if the client crashes or disconnects?
This beta manifesto thread addresses a related issue: Hardcore Heartbeat time

Its called HARDCORE. If your computer sucks and you have weak internet; You're not a HARDCORE gamer. Professional athlete's dont compete with FAIL equipment.

this made me cringe pretty badly. Your post is bad and you should feel bad.

Thank you for:

1) Not making a valid point yourself
2) Not helping with this game's development whatsoever
3) Sharing your feelings. They are important to me.

I read your other posts before I posted this. Thinking maybe I was wrong about number 2. I'm not.
As i already sait - it possible

Plug pull, of course impossible. But common, if nothing will be done,so 100% of ******(insert your favorite curse) will just press alt+f4.

If what i suggest will be implemented maybe 10% of this 100 will pull the plug out or will bind shortkut for process kill....

If something cannot be done to cut out 100% of cheaters it is not reason to not cut out most of them or to make theirs lives harder.

I love that your first and second statements completely contradict eachother.

Anyone that agrees with this does not believe in fair competition.

Can I stress one more time that it is called "Hardcore" mode. If you are the top player in a game that it is possible to cheat at and nobody can tell if you cheated your way there or not they will probably just call you a fucking cheater.
So you say if we cant cut out 100 cheaters of 100 and can cut out only 99 of 100 we better dont cut out anyone?

And in my post nothing contradict each other, may be i was not obvious to everyone

Prevent cheating by alt+f4 -> possible
To determine if PC was shutdown by meteor or by plugging the pull out -> impossible

The fact that second one impossible is not the reason to NOT preveting first clause
