[0.10.5] Aimlessgun's Crit Archer Guide [with videos!]

Also noticed that you are not running with Chain in the armor under "Current Gear", despite having 6L.

Care to shed some light on this?
You actually get more DPS when favoring the Crit Supports?
Is the mana cost too heavy with LMP & Chain?
hi, iam new to this game so dont blame me for this stupid question ;)

why dont you skilled mind drinker?

This is mostly because of the colors on my 6l. Ideal colors are GGGGRB, which I can't get on an ES chest (need to 6l my bow). Ideally I would replace Crit Dmg with Chain, but with my colors I have to replace my 20% quality faster attacks.

Regardless, Chain is better, but it does cost a lot more mana.

I do actually, but its bad with most bows. It's only useful with a high physical bow.
Hey. I'm new to the game and I'm trying your build because it seems nice.
But i got some questions.
What's your actual status of Critical strike chance on the main hand?

And why did you choose the Eldrich Battery passive? You could have used the 3 crit strike chance points around the Bloodthirst passive.

Forgive me if the questions turn out to be stupid. Like I said I'm new to the game and still wondering and discovering a lot.

Well, first off if you're new, acquiring the gear for this build might be difficult :)

Eldritch Battery is there to support lots of auras and the high mana costs of Lightning Arrow. (many archer builds actually solve this with blood magic instead).

My Lightning Arrow crit is 31%. 'Normal' attacks are 26%. With a high crit rare bow you could easily get 40% crit on Lightning Arrow.
Hey aimless :) after following your loh build to the t i think its time to do something new, i was just wondering tho, what are some key differences in this build, and http://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/47194/page/1 Tyr's elemental shadow build? I understand that your elder battery but I also noticed that you go down and not across over to the templar area to achieve more elemental type attacks why is that?.. kind of a noob question i know.. lol

Mine has:
-More HP
-More DPS
-More Auras
-Less AoE radius

I solve mana with EB, he solves it with Soul Siphon, I don't have extensive experience with soul siphon so I can't comment on that difference.
Interesting build, been very fun up to lvl60, though I don't seem to be able to cope with mana without leech support.

I notice you pretty much take all the crit multiplier nodes, while leaving 3x15% crit chance nodes. I know crit multiplier nodes give much more dps on paper than any other regular passive nodes, but I'd argue that it's better to crit more often than for more damage, since any of the crit damage that was above the target's hp is effectively wasted. More crits would also mean more elemental effects.

What are your thoughts on this? 3x15%= 45% more critchance which is about 2.3% or so on a regular bow, upwards of 3% if you have a crit bow. Two or three more critical hits for every hundred isn't a huge amount, but could it be more valuable in combat than the 50%'ish multiplier you would sacrifice( unless you sacrificed something else that is, but this build doesn't have a lot of non-dmg stuff to sacrifice)?

I'm just thinking that this build, being very glass-cannon'ish, might struggle a lot if one gets an unlucky streak of no crits versus tough enemies.

Hey sorry for not answering sooner. I agree with you in principle about crit vs crit multi, and I wouldn't blame you at all if you decided to replace some multi with more crit. However the only way to do this in the build is to drop a 30% crit damage notables :(

Crit damage is actually nicer with chain, since the reduced damage per arrow mitigates the overkill problem as individual arrows chain off to distant packs (though there is even more overkill on densely packed groups lol).

On your mana: It comes down to how good of ES gear you have to pump your mana pool and how much mana you can keep unreserved. I didn't and don't have enough pure regen to sustain LA, but with a deep mana pool unreserved, everything is dead before I run out, and I regen it back before the next pack.

They really aren't that bad, but you have to take them a little slowly, like putting your totem ahead of you into rooms and shooting into rooms from the outside, letting the enemies come to you through the door.
