Tooltip DPS for Vortex shows only the initial hit, and doesn't calculate DoT DPS at all. If I flip my EE to cold on PoB, I lose about 250k DPS (657,433.7 -> 404,574.6)

Well thanks for the heads up man. Oooof I blew a few exalts on all these jewels. Hm so just flat light/fire would still boost my damage but not mess that up. Alright gonna look into that. I still wreck face as is though :)

How do you achieve 500-600K DOT dps on PoB? I tick these options on configurations: frenzy charges, enemy chilled, enemy frozen, enemy was hit by lightning damage and get 364K DOT dps. However when i also tick ignore skill hit damage then i get 576K dps? Is that the damage we are doing, so vortex hits once and then the dot DPS is really 576K afterwards right?
Also I have physical damage to spells on one of my items but I assume that does not interfere at all with EE?

Don't forget "Is Shocked" and aspect of the spider.
With those in place and when I tick ignore skill hit damage I end up with 957k dps lol

I'll need to take a detailed look when I get home, but you'll also want to make sure you're adding the stacks for spider aura in the config. Also, I'm running a 21/20 Vortex which adds a significant amount of damage.
And correct. The initial hit of Vortex will flip EE, but then our trigger cast skills will flip it back, and the Vortex DoT doesn't trigger EE.
And yeah, physical wouldn't do anything.

Oh yeah might be good to check this for non-shaper DPS, but definitely don't leave it checked when viewing shaper DPS. We won't be shocking shaper with this build. I've been leaving mine unchecked, mostly cause I forgot lol.

So im wondering if i should replace the craft with Stat + 18 quality and exalt for hopefully an % energy shield prefix? Theyre already quite good i think.
Rime Gaze is a good starter option, but a helmet with higher ES and -9% to nearby enemy cold resists is better. Cold Snap does enough damage on a 4L for map clear, and is primarily used in bossing to buff Vortex.
Can -9% enemy cold res of a rare helm even out the 30% cold damage + 20% cold DoT damage of Rime Gaze?
Also, my Rime Gaze has currently 215 ES, what ranges are meant by "higher ES"? (for a reasonable price, like up to ~50c max, or selfcraft)

I'm looking at the same thing as I've been using Rime Gaze so far, according to POB if I swap out my Rime Gaze for rare with the -9% cold resist to nearby enemies it's a 6.4% loss in DPS and if I remove a helmet altogether I lose 14.8% DPS.
So assuming POB is correct then the rare is a good option if you need survivability and can craft/buy a 300-400 ES version but if not then I'd opt for Rime Gaze.
