Any ETA on fixing these ridiculous AMD FPS drops? (e: Nvidia cards affected as well!)

been faithful in the game for over year and a half. Payed closed beta keys for friends because i love path of exile. i gave my keys that i received for free. Hell i just got a new SSD JUST so i could put windows and path of exile. that's how much i want to play this game. i use to be able to play just fine in closed beta with a little fps drops but noway anything close to this. skill effects completely rape me now. when they came out i got firestorm and fireball and used them with pride. now i need to take them off or every 3-5 fireball i go to 12 fps for no reason. whats up with that? i even payed for 2x fireball 2x firestorm just because i had silly totem plans. whats going on? this should be number 1 on your list. your losing people. all my friends quit because of the fps lag. they use to play on there medium range pc's and now most of them quit because they don't enjoy arpgs much or have serious fps drops. I love the new stuff. but whats the point of adding shit to this masterpiece if half ( or maybe 1/4th ) of the people cant enjoy it... how hard can it be to limit particles shown? you can seriously remove the blurry weird effect now its not even good looking in groups its all you see a huge bloob of wavy particle stuff...I want to keep playing. I want to love and give to this game. but you NEED to focus on whats important and right now A LOT of people are having issues. some people with crappy computers play with no lag or fps drops and some people with bad ass computers drop like crazy, vice versa. its not normal, something is wrong. You are known for your versatility, now please add options to hide stuff. its not like its game breaking. its actually game fixing. I have faith in you <3

i fixed SOME of my issues using RadeonPro. ( a lot better then without it, tho i still drop quite hard in docks but that place is always been a real drop fest. hope this helps some of you. )

I turned on
-triple-burffering.
-lock frame rate up to monitor's refresh rate. played around with AA.
-force process high priority
tried alot of stuff wont go into details. play around with it ( if you know what your doing somewhat )

all this really did was help my frame rate issues and a tiny bit helped fps drops. i still get them party or alone.

Just Started to do 66 maps.

And died to brutus in Prison. Brutus makes his FIRST "Get Over Here" with chain = FPS Spike = everything freezes, then unfreezes = oops, I'm already dead.

Next map. Overgrown Ruin. Enetering the Boss room. Trying to kill those Skeleton Adds and Unique, then Fidelitas make his FIRST Lightning Strike = FPS spike = everything freezes, then unfreezes = oops, I'm already dead.

And I had 3000 life and 75 all res, but I don't even know how I died, cause i DIDN"T EVEN see it. 30% exp lost to FPS spikes. All other time steady 40 FPS.

It's totally unplayable in the Maps. Well I can play, and even get to bosses, but I will be dying every single time like with their first ability usage. So EndGame Maps are not possible for me. I could have let myself do die to this FPS-SPIKES in docks-catacombs like 1 time in 5 hours and it weren't a big loss. But to die EVERY SINGLE TIME to bosses on maps... I will never get pass 75. Well I can NOT EVEN TRY TO KILL BOSSES, but COMMON.

Well I was waiting for GGG to Fix this FPS-SPIKES problem from the start of OB, but now I just don't see any sense to stay in the game. Of course I will try to play more safer, will NOT BE DOING BOSSES (crap), but i think i'm pretty close to say goodbye to PoE, cause if you can't do MAPS = No sense in playing further. Too bad, cause I really like this game.

Hey guys, i will show you some CCC tweaks which greatly improved my performance during party play.



After turning triple buffering on and tessellation off my FPS never dropped below 20 FPS again during 6 man party play. I know 20 FPS doesn't sound great but it's playable. Setting Client.exe to high priority as mentioned elsewhere may help aswell.

My specs:
Intel i5-2430M 2.4 GHz
AMD HD 6850M with Catalyst v13.4
Windows 8 x64

I also tried out RadeonPro but it created heavy inputlag and desync. I hope these tweaks may help someone to enjoy this game again.

You know what even bother me than this fps drops?, there has not been a single response to this thread by one of the active developers... Its like they dont care what happens with this game. I play this game because they have made a perfect successor of Diablo 2, but they support to the community is just fualty, this game will die just before the end "open beta" btw this is the longest beta i have seen for a game...

Official responses for this thread, hardly like they don't care when the head guy asks you to email him, with all the details he asked for to try fix it.

Well, I have just Upgraded from a HD6670 2gb ddr3(old shit) to a HD7850 2gb gddr5...and



But i don't think it is to do with the game being graphically badly optimized, it seems to be more of a problem with loading of some things.

I tested in the docks with my LA/Chain/GMP/life on hit ranger which used to get dips in fps just soloing(there is a post with pic earlier in the thread) and in group on the old card and saw a large drop in some cases which tbh i would have put down to the card.

Tested both on the new card, solo there is hardly any movement in fps, can sit in a group of void bears and spam LA and it would only move 2 to 3 frames either way...however some things like the archers that have ice shot would make fps dip, however once they were on the screen and after the first cast it settled down again...the could cast as often as they liked and it went back to normal fps.

In the group the same problem occurred...would be spamming the shit out of LA/ice spear arc and all the auras and what not and the fps fluctuated but never to the point of being sub 20 until something like discharge or ice shot or the likes.

I'm not sure if the game is just a bit slow loading from the HDD for some things giving the micro pause and buggering the frame rates or if its on the systems ram or possibly something being loaded from the server.

Thinking about it though it would make more sense that the game pauses for a fraction of a second when it tries to load some effects or works out some big damage and you get a knock on effect...would also explain why it doesn't show up when GGG tests rigs.

I'm pretty sure this game just burned up another of my video cards..

First was a hd7870 2gb ddr5
and now a sapphire 1gb ddr5

In case anyone is curious that's $450 usd worth of video cards.

I have no problems running any games except Path of exile.
Anything that is even remotely gpu intensive I get a huge spike.
