Adder's Touch

1. Why doesn't poison work like ignite and always give you the best DPS possible?
Because Poison arrow's cloud initially worked by applying the debuff to anything in range every x milliseconds. It would have caused anything in the cloud to be counting thousands of unused buffs if they stacked up, it worked because each replaced the last.
Poison arrow now works using ground effect/aura tech (we didn't have that when it was implemented), which requires that it does work like ignite (or just stack and have all active at once). So in the modern game, Poison arrow, just like ignite, maintains all the buffs but lets only the strongest be active at any given time.

2. If a monster is standing inside of a poison cloud from Poison Arrow, and is then poisoned by Adder's Touch, won't the poison cloud just instantly re-override the effect from Adder's Touch?
Previously, yes. Since 0.9.12 when poison arrow was changed, no.
Okay, so does the poison cloud from Poison Arrow stack with the poison from Adder's Touch (like ignite and ground fire stack with each other), or does only the one with the highest DPS apply?
Both are applying poison, just as a crit with fire damage and a burn proliferated from a nearby ally are both applying burn. Multiple instances of poison do not stack.
Understood. Thank you.
Will temporal chains cause the poison to last twice as long?
Is there any scenario in which the increased Chaos Damage mod from quality on the Added Chaos Damage gem will affect the chaos damage done by Adder's Touch?
Not directly. It will increase the Chaos Damage dealt by the hit, which determines the severity of the debuf, but degen cannot currently be affected by "% increased damage" stats.

I'm theorycrafting/working on a shadow build that uses this, in my opinion, quite awesome bleed effect.

I've tried the skill effect on several occasions during leveling, and it works like a charm.

My way to prove it actually works with lightning strike was to hit the general in the act 3 barracks with the projectiles until I saw his health drop while his energy shield stayed up. This opened up some amazing possibilities for me for a lightning strike dagger build, but let's put that aside for now :)

The keystone in my opinion is in a very nice position on the tree, but I find its a bit lacklustery for elemental dagger players, mainly because almost every node leading towards the finisher is a small physical damage increase to daggers. It feels very odd that a keystone is affected by all types of damage, but all nodes leading up to it only affect one of the 5 different damage types.

I get that it's pretty powerful to make tree nodes increase all types of damage, but in this case, I don't feel that the 4% nodes to physical really cut it, and they feel quite useless. Especially when I also want to try 'added chaos damage' in the mix of this build.

Shadow also has a real disadvantage when it comes to picking up elemental damage nodes (3x5%, really?), so I'd like to request, if it's deemed wise, that the nodes leading up to adder's touch be changed to 'increased dagger damage' rather than 'increased physical damage with daggers', especially because it's such a small %.

I agree, i wish the nodes leading up to this notable also boosted elemental daggers. For that matter, I wish the shadow area had more elemental nodes. Can't wait to finish crafting this dagger (just need fire dmg), but looks like I'd be better off starting off from the witch area.

Isnt it better to use Wands for elemental damage? Wands are ranged weapons and have higher base crit chance (it can easily compensate lack of crit nodes for wands). Adder tough isnt enough to make elemental daggers viable.

There is no knowledge
That is not power
Really Adder's Touch doesn't have much to do with elemental dagger builds, since the poison effect is chaos damage. So 'elemental' passives don't apply to it.
