my current staff. took around 35+ chaos for +1 gems. prolly roll again for spell dmg+fcr till get bit more currency
Re-Roll once you get currency to do it, the +1 gems only become stronger if you roll high spell damage and/or cast speed.
Purely +1 level gems doesn't give you as much of a dps boost as one would think it does.
Took 100++ chaos to roll
And everytime I get +1 gems with cast speed or high spell damage + high crit spell or any combination with at least 2 x high roll of what is recommended, I equip it and try out the dps.
What I notice -
1: +1 gems with cast speed alone doesnt cut it, +1 gems need to be rolled with spell damage.
2: +spell damage with +spell crit chance doesnt cut it, I had one roll 60% spell damage and 80% spell crit, 80% spell crit is not awesome at all, it just helps if you get the other rolls
3: +1 gems with cast speed alone doesnt cut it as well
4: +1 gems is augmented heavily by spell damage
5: To clairfy, +1 gems gives +1% cast speed from faster cast, 1% cast speed from iron will, 0.3% life leech, %projectile speed and damage from faster projectiles, and 1 lvl to EK and if you think it's important, less % mana (hp used) due to lvl-ing of blood magic. However, due to EK lvl-ing, the mana cost is augmented back to higher than before, so no biggie if you ignore it.
If you get spell damage + 1 level gem, you're insanely lucky, [AKA STOP] I have not gotten it at all until 100++ chaos, not a single time, tbh crafting hybrid items like a staff is a bitch. I wouldn't have started if I didn't manage to get my hands on a 6-L ilvl 75 staff.
If you get spell damage + 1 level gem AND cast speed, you won the crafting game.
So you have three options, one is to just stop at high spell damage - low on currency.
Two, stop at high spell damage and + 1 level of gems OR + cast speed > 15% - mid level of currency and is willing to sit and craft till viable before equipping kaoms ( I assume you already have kaoms sitting around before equipping a staff 6-L ).
Three, do not stop until you get at least high spell damage + 1 level of gems AND cast speed / spell crit chance where cast speed > spell crit chance - you have a ton of currency and want to craft until you get a 3-stat EK staff before going ahead.
As you can see, the level of currency you have will determine where you should stop on crafting, either 1 stat, 2 stat or 3 stat.
Also, I'm assuming that we're doing the chaos game here where you spam chaos and wait for results. Don't quote me, but I'm telling you alterations, augmentations and regal exalt game is gonna deplete you of currency because you don't double/triple dip into prefix and suffix, the number of prefix and suffix and variation of ilvl roll-able on each on a staff is absolutely insane and coming from experience, the chances of you getting even 2 viable stat by alterations + augmentations even WITHOUT regal-ing is so low you'll deplete yourself exalts worth of alterations and you won't even see it.
So, unless you're looking to make a staff with 4 stats - 6 stats of viable EK stats, don't bother doing the alt - regal - exalt game, you'll probably rage quit after a certain amount.
Though, even if you're looking for 2 viable stats like mine, you'd have to reserve at least 5-10 exalts of chaos and don't flinch if you don't even get it, it's THAT hard to craft a staff. Look at etupz's staff, no idea how much it took, but probably quite an amount. Now, look at frostynu's staff, search 6-L stuff on poe xyz, 100+ % spell damage staff, took 35+ exalts to roll it back when he rolled it according to him. Settle for something 2-3 stats viable unless you're looking to spend exalts over exalts over exalts and you're not going to be affected by failure.
There it is, wall of text and I tried to format it the best I can. Good luck!

just wondering if frostynu's staff worth 35 ex than how much does my one worth
Spending 35 ex to roll the mods doesn't make it worth 35 exalts, plus when he rolled it with 35 exalts that was probably back when exalts were 15-18 chaos each. I'm not sure what your staff is worth, because it is worth what it is worth to you, there is probably never good enough demand and supply of 6-L EK staves around that will make them price-able, it can only be used when you get kaoms, kaoms aint that common.

Why get the 3 armor nodes at maraudar tree ( Armour Mastery ), rather than steelskin, down by unwavering stance? It gives more armour, only for the cost of 2 movement speed.

Thank you bro. This is a helluva post! One question, I have an ilvl 61 staff that I am thinking of rerolling. I realize the ilvl is very low so I am wondering what the level requirement for +1 level to gems is.
For reference
Spoiler
The chance to Vaal +1% maximum resists on an amulet is less than 1/300.
