10 Year D2 Player's Suggestion Thread

hello Poe Team im loving the game so far, just a few ideas i thought would make poe more appealing.

#1 New Acts 3-4
Make more dungeons caves grittier depths of hell type levels. if you were on the river of flame level style, it doesn't have to copy diablo but the depths of hell would make this game more enigmatic IMO.

#2 Monster Redundancy
i find fighting alot of the creatures in PoE to be less than enjoyable. crabs, and Mud Rohas and a few others just dont look realistic or amusing, More death lords, lurkers and demonic creatures!:D

#3 Whirl Wind
please please implement the original barbarian skill Whirl wind!

#4 passive Skill Auras with sound
diablo 2's player aura's + sound make magic. and i mean not just a green glow or red glow, they need to have detail's. for example in d2 the paladin shield switch to holy shield has a metal clanking to signify the skill. also the skill defiance is has an enigmatic look to it

:D maybe if each character class gets its own type of auras? if u implement auras in player characters it would excite things a bit.

red aura - grants bonus to life per lvl

blue aura - mana bonus

green aura - dex bonus

orange - attack speed bonus

yellow - dmg bonus

white - cast speed bonus

Bronze - Armor boost bonus

just an idea.

More like this, level of detail and realistic

Less like this. blocky and animated.

funny how pre-rendered cg artwork looks shitloads better than a fully 3d engine
all this info is out there on the beta manifesto etc but still ill repost it here as u made the thread.

1 act 3 is comin and should b inplace before obeta. there will b just 3 diffs instead of 4 and more to do at 'end-game'. chris said

Development of Act Three is in progress and portions it will be enabled by Open Beta. We've sectioned off a part of it that can be enabled later, so that you're able to play the rest of it earlier.

Three acts isn't all you intend to implement is it?
I find running through the same content only times a little tiresome. Unless Act 3 has quite a lot to offer.

There will be more. We want to finish Act Three before doing others though.

We're planning to give every type of monster in the game unique abilities. With some effort, we should be able to get different versions of the same monster type to have different abilities (so that Oak's bandits are different from Alira's ones, etc). This will add a substantial amount of tactical play to regular combat, because the players will have to adapt their playstyle to the specific monsters that they are fighting. We will also add more interaction between related monster types. For example, the Goat Men are getting a Shaman that can buff them.

We've planned out the new monster layout for the first two acts (using the above philosophy) and will probably post it for you guys to see in the near future! To be honest, it really feels like a massive improvement to me.

With regards to monster behaviour, 0.9.7 includes a change where the monsters don't just continuously attack you with no pauses between attacks. We've rebalanced the monsters so that they do more damage but attack less often than before. In addition, we have "taunt" animations made for several monsters, so these can be hooked up to further increase the variety of non-combat actions that monsters perform in an effort to make combat less predictable.

3 hmm WW was cool BUT every damn barb used it and pretty much only it. hard spell not to make OP too

4 erm there is, well kinda. power, frenzy and endurance charges. not only can u use different attacks to build them u can also make them better on the sphere grid. they also come in 3 colours, each tied to a stat (kinda) and matchin the stat in colour
The characters don't REALLY have "CLASSES" in this (I love variety and I can build how I want to... it surprisingly works for me!)

I hate games where for some reason you can't learn an ability even though you know it would be useful... this game solves that... ps I hated PVP in D2 friggin' barbs... whirlwind up the WAZANG! I am glad this game is more "Survival" toned rather than OMG friggin' rainbows and unicorn "epiC" toned.

1:S because it is the first priority in this genre

2:C because it isn't really that big until the END...

Edit- Just my opinion, I loved D2... but it's dead now, TITAN QUEST... dead... Grim Dawn looks amazing... D3 *frustrating*... Torchlight was fun but really immature (gore baby!).
I love virtual brutality so save it for the Mobs...

I'm thinking your pushing to much for like diablo. i like your colour aura idea though
Nobody push for Torchlight or Fate okay? I like my blood and gore spilling...

I agree, D3 doesn't look that great graphically. D2 had a more realistic look, even if I hated the extremely low resolution of its characters.

I agree with this, they should maybe add some sort of mini "twirl" skill that lasts maybe 3 to 5 seconds.

Also I don't understand why you trying to ask them to make the graphics more realistic when it already is...
Sweeping Maid
i agree the D3 looks too cartoonish but what do you expect this is wow developers these ppl probably take too much lsd and they need rainbows :)

that was my way of showing the comparison between d2 and 3.
and how poe is leagues ahead graphically anyways. model things after d2 not 3. graphics, pvp, cowruns, clone op's, chat ect, it worked great. b.net 2.0 is terrible due to its lack of community chat, game search ability, its more like b.net 0.2 i hope that GGG and blizzard take note on what actually made games like d2 sc2 wc3 so popular they all had great chat functionality and enabled the whole community to come together easily. for me sc2 was a let down, and is possibly why there are far more d2 games than sc2 currently being played.
