Should you rush blood magic ASAP, settle for mana or use a blood magic gem?

Also, any chance of doing me up your version of this build for a ranger @ aaround lvl 45?

LOL "It doesnt say he cant sell for forum gold in the rules so its legal!" it also doesnt say that im not allowed to slap women with salmon ive dyed purple and ride a burning donkey through town so it must be legal! It does say I cannot assault women and abuse animals in public...but thats not specific enough so I will get away with it right?

Hi Busho, good and very relevant question!

First of all, it's very possible to run this build as a lvl 45 Ranger. About BM, well, it's either or. Depending on your amount of links (mana use on your Split Arrow) and maximum life pool, you can either rush BM or get the BM gem. I personally got BM gem around lvl 40 with around 1.2k hp, and that went very well for me. Just have your finger on the Life Flasks.

Hope it gave you an idea, GL mate!

I'm also running a bow shadow at high levels. I have a few questions about your build.

1. Wouldn't a mana leech support gem be better/safer than Blood Magic? These are my main attack setups:



Both cost a buttload of mana, and I'm pretty sure Lightning arrow is just better AOE than split arrow (although I will give split arrow a shot, as I completely forgot it existed and most of my stuff is geared towards phys damage). Ever since I threw in the leech gems, I have never run out of mana, plus I don't have to worry about reserving life with Hatred or Grace, my two main auras (I'm considering throwing in a third while I'm at it, seeing as I have too much mana as is). I feel like for a physical user, especially with the kind of attack speed and mana costs you want to have with Frenzy, blood magic is risky. And for a shadow, it's waaaay out of the way. There are better slots available (although my tree is far from optimal in any case).

2. If I don't grab blood magic, is it still worth the trek for Beserking? It's 7 skill points, with not all that much along the way that I want, beyond the Duelist life nodes.

3. I... didn't really spec for crit. Kinda underestimated it, maybe. Is it worth doing at this point, or should I just focus on other things?

4. Anywhere else around the tree you would really recommend me cleaning up for extra points? (I need the +30 str nodes for my support gems. I could respec Savant, as all I need the extra int for is my Item Rarity gem, but ionno, it's also some mana...)

5. How the fuck did you get 12k BASE DPS on frenzy?! Sure, Lioneye's, but... but... What does that go up to with max charges? I know mine goes from 1.2k to 2.8k... /fanboyism

6. Why is your life almost double mine? You don't have that many more life passives; do you get way more bonuses from your gear?

do you think skipping going for blood magic(save 11 skill points) and getting bloodrage skill would work, you still need to bloodmagic socket the 3 auras you using. but you can run with determination/vitality and hatred

1. Mana Leech gem vs Blood Magic passive: For me it was basically a question about damage and sustainability. Going BM allows you to gem for Life Leech or LGOH which is thousand times better regen than flasks. It's almost risk free using Life as source for your damage spells since you get so much life back from either LL or LGOH. I did consider going Mana Leech and then be able to run Hatred and Haste auras aswell, but I would still have to gem for LL or LGOH which would take a socket option, which would decrease my damage output. Also, on the way to BM there are passives like Unwavering Stance, Berserking, Armour Master, Diamond Skin and Frenzy Charge, which all are cores to me. And especially builds without Lioneye's Glare, you really want Resolute Technique, and all these kore nodes are just on the way aswell :)

2. I don't think it'd be viable going for Berserking if you don't pick up the other key nodes west of it.

3. I wouldn't focus on crit without having L's G. I would definitely just go straight for RT.

4. I'll take a look ta your skill tree later when my classes end.

5. It went up to around 28-29k iirc (might be able to see it in one of the vids). It's basically just a matter of gear and the high damage scaling on this spec. It was with an earlier, more defensive version of my spec though, I have adjusted it since to lower the surviability slightly in advance of much higher damage potential.

6. Again, just a question about gear.

Not too sure I understand your question correctly.. You wanna skip BM and get Blood Rage? Sure it can be done, but I explained my reasons for getting BM in my 1st point to bpc :)

But yea no BM would allow you to run percentage based auras like the ones you mention!
