[3.6 Video Guide] Volatile Dead Elementalist (or Inquisitor) [HC/SC/Uber Izaro/Shaper]

I've been leveling this build and it's incredibly fun - I just got this character to endgame the other day, and I'm now working on getting to 75 to use Doryani's Catalyst.

One thing that's confusing me though: is the Doryani elemental proliferation just not used? Looking at the PoB setup I see that the 3-links are CWDT/IC/Golem and Skeleton totem. Would it be worth giving up 4L to put Cremation in the catalyst, or does the proliferation work with the flame golem? Or is the proliferation effect a non-factor and the catalyst is mostly for the increased elemental damage and leech?

No, the proliferation is never used, it's also rather bad these days due to how poor the ignite performs in the game atm.

Cremation is mainly used for extra dmg vs single target and shouldn't be needed in situations where you are clearing trash which is the only time proliferation would function as a mechanic despite the poor performance.

The Leech & dmg is the reason we use it :)

I've been using this guide for my 1st character in PoE and i like this build. It's incredibly fun (especially with 4L Lightning Warp cause i fell in love with this skill).
I've just started clearing maps and going to upgrade Nycta's Lantern for endgame weapon. I managed to buy rare wand with total 115% spell damage, 96% increased Critical Strike Chance for Spells and free prefix for adding 0.2% fire spell leech. And it cost just 1 chaos orb. I think it's cheaper and better than Doryani's Catalyst because of larger critical chance bonus which increases elemental overload uptime (working for Cremation only cause we have Controlled Destruction in VD).
And i use Atziris Foible for MoM cause 6L Cloak of Defiance is super expensive. I have a question which is better: 5L Cloak of Defiance or 6L rare chest with life and resists + Atziris Foible?

Crit is not the focus for the Elementalist version so that's not something we really focus at all on.
The leech addition is nice though and the spell dmg is great on your wand!

CoD = more defence if you can sort the unreserved mana

6L > 5L = more damage

You don't have to use CoD, it's better in general for hardcore players but softcore it's w/e you can just go for more damage tbh.

it might be a better idea to just start off endgame with a 7/3 life to mana ratio before getting the cloak linked up. that could take a long time.

if a 6l cloak is the goal then getting a rare 6l chest is usually not too expensive and it's much better than a tabula or a 5l cloak.

sometimes it's even cheaper to buy a corrupted 6l chest with the proper colours and a decent life roll.

in the meantime you can work on getting the cloak 6l or save up for one. once that is accomplished you can get the proper life/mana ratio that is 3/2 by adding grand spectrum jewels and mana here and there.

the usual conundrum for builds that have the main link in a unique chest.

for some reason non corrupted 6l is very cheap this league. so it's almost a crime not to get one asap.

by the way isn't the 4l lightning warp setup a remnant from before when we needed to use a lightning skill to get mastermind of discord penetration? now we just need to use herald of ash so that means a bigger mana pool as it's still gonna reserve 19% of mana. less mana to use for incoming damage and harder to reach the proper life/mana ratio.

Crit is not the focus but it's still needed for elemental overload like Ridzik says. For softcore a rare shield with 100% increased crit chance might help with this.

Controlled destruction support does not prohibit crits. It just reduces whatever crit chance you have by 100% like other %increases and %reductions. I don't know if Ridzik thought it was impossible to crit with cd support but it looked like it. Even if you only have the base 5% it can't go any lower.

Not many players favour wands because they don't work with the popular movement skills so you can usually get powerful ones very cheap like above.

I think elemental overload is a huge buff so i found out another great option to increase its uptime. You can use a helmet with "Socketed Gems are Supported by Level X Concentrated Effect" so it's possible to replace CE with Increased Critical Strikes Support in Cremation 4L. These helmets are cheap even with proper stats.

Regarding reservation, for softcore you could run with "less sustainable mana for MoM" and use more heralds if once wishes whilst in hardcore I'd generally prefer to keep mana open as much as possible for the security of my eHP.

It's a nice addition if you can handle the res :)
I personally prefer a rare one as I'd try to aim for a VD enchanted helmet which is never gonna happen on Hrimnor as most lab runners do it on high ilvl rares.
